The guy who's given up 4 gopher balls in his last 12 innings and 13 on the season? Yes, him.

He's got an ERA under 3, a WHIP under 1.1, over 8 strikeouts per 9 innings, under 8 hits per 9 innings, and a K/BB ratio of almost 5/1. He's giving up 1.1 HR/9 IP this year. I'll take it.

Let Puig play a while longer and watch that BABIP drop from being over .500 and then we can decide if he is an All Star. Let some pitchers adjust to him and see how he adjust back and then we can decide if he is an All Star. Personally, I'm not ready to crown someone an All Star after 20 something games. JMO.

You would be shocked at some guys who have an all star appearance next to their name. Being an all star isn't some noble feat. It's a mid season exhibition for entertainment. Few, if any, are currently more entertaining than Yasiel

I made a comment about a guy who hits a lot of home runs hitting a home run off a guy who gives up a lot of home runs.

Nothing more, nothing less.

He also happens to have two home runs against mike, at least one of which being of the epic variety.

I would agree with this statement 100% if it were not for the fact that the ASG is no longer solely for entertainment...now it decides home-field advantage in the WS...

I think Puig in the ASG is good for the Dodgers, and good for baseball in general. We need more players like him in the game. Fans love him. Yet, I also don't think 20 games is enough to be a legitimate all-star in a game that really matters.

Quite the conundrum.

The Allstar game doesn't really matter. Fans pick the starters. The best players play maybe two innings. Justin verlander admittedly goofed off in his one inning on the mound. By the time guys decide they don't want to play, there's injuries, and Sunday pitchers are replaced, there's like 75-80 players total. Give me a break.

I'd rather Yasiel Puig come to the plate in the 9th inning for the NL to secure home field for the Braves WS chances than Justin Upton.

I mean I don't care if Yasiel Puig has All Star next to his name or not. But, to me, I think there should be a number of games minimum to qualify (no matter how trivial). Just as there is for most things in baseball. I also am not in the Yasiel Puig is the next Ted Williams camp like a lot are, though. He is the flavor of the month so I understand why a lot would want him there.

I also agree. Push comes to shove, I think he should be in. And I think that WS home-field advantage needs to go to the team with the best record.

Either/or to me. I mean Justin Upton was Yasiel Puig in April. Now, its vice versa. Doesn't make either one better than the other. Puig is going to be struggling in another month or so and Upton is going to go on another tear. So goes baseball. Crazy game.

Ah, I can see that. I know you've been less than a fan of Minor in the past and thought that was it. Withdrawn. You are right.

I think Puig is for real. Raw, but pretty smart. His parents are both engineers. He also knows way more English than he lets he known. He will slow down some, but he has the ability to adjust.

100%. He speaks English. Also, guys that consistently hit the ball with authority to the opposite field don't go into prolonged slumps.

Puig has walked 4x this season.

Hope he ends up better than the last "natural" who didn't walk much.
