O rly? Based on batting average?

Why don't you have Yadier Molina in the 3 spot?

Slash lines for the NL

Phillips: .266/.320/.413

Beltran: .303/.346/.533

Molina: .341/.386/.489

Tulo: .332/.400/.608

Votto: .318/.434/.516

Gonzalez: .302/.370/.610

Goldschmidt: .315/.395/.557

Wright: .304/.396/.507

Harper: .264/.371/.522

Phillips can ball, but he shouldn't be in the top five batting order, despite my 30 seconds of idiocy of putting him leadoff.

He should bat last, as he gets on base least by a wide margin.

Listen, I understand the slash lines and power numbers are not in his favor. However, scoring and driving in runs is the name of the game correct?

I'm guessing Pedroia has better slash lines than Phillips due to his higher average but he hits almost 100 points less than BP with RISP. Not impressed.

He has raked this year. Just missed a lot of time and shouldn't be starting haha

Would have loved that spot to Carlos Gomez. One of the best defenders in baseball and has raked despite that high BAPIP. He has an outside shot for a 30/30 season.

Predicted by yours truly. Riding that cat to fantasy championships across the globe

Yeah mccutchen and gomez off the bench is somewhat awesome though especially to replace Beltran's defense.

I value getting on base because that's a better predictor than RISP. RISP has shown to fluctuate year to year. For example:

Phillips with RISP in 2013: .404

Phillips with RISP in 2012: .305

Phillips' has definitely been awesome with men on this year.........but bassed on his around .300 career average, he's been fluky this year, just like he's been fluky with a .200 average with nobody on this year.

Do you feel the same away about Chris Davis' power numbers?

Also, Brandon hit 2nd last year behind the worst leadoff producing hitters in the big leagues. Therefore, tiny sample size is my guess as to what leads to that low avg. in 2012.

I know you factor in walks, hbp, fc, errors, so on and so forth, but the easiest way someone gets on is to hit.

Would you rather have someone that hits .273 while batting .345 with risp or a .315 hitter that also hit for average with risp?

I mean, really? Serious question?

I could make a case that the backup OF of McCutchen/Gomez/Cuddyer is a more deserving starting OF than Gonzalez/Harper/Beltran

if the "for every Chris Davis derby homer orioles reduce ticket prices by $1.00" thing is true that is awesome.

Chris Davis ain't slugging .717 for the next five years, but there's definitely a correlation for his success. He's learned to take the ball the opposite way, entering baseball prime years, and has show consistent improvement from 2011. But he's doing a better job of taking pitches outside the zone.
