The Falcons hiring the guy responsible for giving you the most painful loss in pro sports history is as Falcons as it would get

Alabama will probably throw the bank at Kirby Smart to replace Saban.
There is absolutely zero reason for him to leave UGA. Money is the same, he's won titles there, he's an alum, he's likely to go down as the greatest coach in school history (he's still got a long way to go to catch Dooley for most wins but he might already be).

If Kirby ever leaves Georgia, it’s for the nfl like we discussed in the other thread

Kirby probably has the easiest β€œbest” job in the country. He can field a championship caliber roster and never have to recruit outside of Georgia.
The only drawback about a job like that is the expectations. If he goes another year or two without winning a CFP game, even if he's going 11-1 or 12-0 and winning the SEC, they'll really start chirping at him. However meathead competitors like him are wired like that and it doesn't really bother them.

The stress of that job has become tenfold the last few years. Money is still great, but I’d rather be an NFL coordinator than a college football HC at this rate.
Personal preference, but there's also so much non-football BS ancillary stuff that a college HC has to deal with. I love college football but would hate being a college football coach.

I think to be a great college HC, of course you have to love the recruiting, but you also have to like the hobnobbing and gladhanding of boosters, being the public face of the program/university, and basically being a quasi-politician. In the NFL there is no recruiting (other than potential FAs, and that's 95% about money), you don't have to gladhand anyone, you have to appease an owner instead of a whole gaggle of boosters and admin people who don't actually own anything but think they do, and the players are the primary face of the team. It's very stressful, but it's also only about football.

Snit at 84: β€œAw shucks ya know, I still love being out there with the guys, ya know.”
...and unlike the dudes who are walking away or getting whacked, hanging out with the guys really is like two-thirds of a manager's job. If he keeps winning, he might really hang around well into his 70s.
