The Atlanta Braves Thread

I think they overreacted to the new 2 pickoff rule that was coming . But in reality only a handful of dudes are stealing bases anyways

1) They really did think that there were going to be 3 stolen base attempts per game lol

2) Hilarious they decided to keep rolling with TDA when that was their thinking

The most frustrating thing about mclouth is he was truly terrible for years in Atlanta and after he left he went to Baltimore and immediately turned back into the guy he was in Pittsburgh?

I have a Nate McLouth game used bat. Worst piece of memorabilia ever. I let my kids play with it haha

Gorkys Hernandez, yup. Funny enough McLouth was fine in 2009. But god it went quick. He actually got DFA by Pittsburgh again, went to Baltimore and turned into an average bat. It was weird. Not like Atlanta is some hotbed of pressure, especially in 2009-2010.

Morton's career is truly incredible. Through his age 32 season he was a 4.54 ERA guy (84 ERA+!!!) in 893 innings who never made 30 starts in a season. Then he goes to Houston in 2017 and since then has been a 3.63 ERA guy (117 ERA+!!!) in 1199 innings with five seasons of 30 starts. This never happens. Like the Nelson Cruz of pitchers

Sticky stuff + analytics (RPM, pitch mix, pitch tunneling)

he had 250+ games in the majors before he came here and did absolutely next to nothing aside from a few cool looking home runs. More often than not, those players don’t become much.
Well that’s interesting because he was pretty good all the way back in 2023.

we have differing options if “pretty good”

0.0 career WAR in Seattle. You’d think with all those tools he could at least be more than a JAG
Since you are a bWAR guy I’m assuming you can see his 111 OPS+

You wanna know the number of guys capable of playing CF throwing out a 111 OPS+? Not a lot!

Not stumping for the guy but understand what the upside was/is. Didn’t trade off anything but $ and AA has proven fairly well that he can waste money with the best of em.

Ftr, I wanted Winker on a minor league deal.
