The Atlanta Braves Thread

This year for sure. Yes Acuna/Strider injuries were demoralizing but so many small things that could have been cleaned up. The $20M+ in funds for Jarred Kelenic, the SS position, the lack of adding a real OF/backend starter at the deadline. Olson/Murphy/Harris having the seasons they've had and Riley/Albies injuries really suck. Imagine if Sale, Lopez and Schwelly didn't have the years they did that are all surprising.

It's hard to say that he lost a hand considering they've won 6 division titles and a WS. But take out 2021 and in the other four full seasons the Braves haven't won a playoff series. More like he had pocket aces and checked his way to a "winning" hand. Sure it's a winning hand so you didn't squander your hand but it really feels like you should have done more with it.

Jorge Soler has a 132 wRC+ with the Braves since he came over but his defense/baserunning has been such a negative he's only been worth .3 WAR. Gio Urshela has been worth twice that to show how bad Soler's non offensive contributions are.

Org and minor league system inherited + Battery and payroll provided during his tenure should not equal staring at the phils ass in the recent past, present and short term future and staring down the barrel of the mets now (somehow) and long-term.

But but but the 2021 World Series!

I totally agree that the asset management aspect of his job has been downright abysmal. Not trading any pitching prospect worth a damn from 2018-2020 is totally inexcusable and the constant "draft pitching" philosophy has been abhorrent. Exhibit A being the fact we still had to trade for Chris Sale, sign Reynaldo Lopez and rely on 40 year old Charlie Morton for 160 innings in order for a pitching staff to be an asset in 2024.

It's hindsight and I know it's been beat to death (and I know you'll disagree with part 1) but not bringing Fred back and the Murphy trade was so braindead it's going to **** with us for a few years. He could have used the prospects to trade for a pitcher in 2022 or used Contreras to get a real SS after Dansby left. Instead, he had to use all the remaining good prospects to trade for Olson (who overall has been very good) and emptied the treasure chest. Then he didn't have anything to left to replace Dansby and completely overreacted to the new rules and traded Willy and more prospects for a position we've gotten worse at and cost significantly more money. It's jarring how much he bungled the assets he has had.

Orlando Arcia has the worst Win Probability Added this year in baseball among qualified hitters. He has been the 5th worst player in baseball among qualified hitters in clutch situations.

Also we have not spent enough time of the absurdity that Ozzie Albies has to bat RH/RH for the first time in his 11 year professional career and Snit just put him 2nd in the lineup without even blinking

Not absurd at all

He is a good right handed hitter

We do not have very many good hitters
