Disagree. The bigger issue is a poor allocation of resources by AA.We could’ve done that too if ownership allowed the front office to spend a billion dollars like they did.
I'm not sure. He played 49 games and wasn't really showing signs of it yet. Riley never got out of it, neither did Olson. Mikey got a little bit better after his IL stint but didn't have a great year. Ozzie wasn't great before or after the injury. The whole team, sans Ozuna, wasn't hitting (and didn't all year).Do you actually think Ronald wouldn’t have gotten it going though? I mean we are talking about the defending MVP here.
Your argument is based on a sample size worth of stats from a slow start and then you act as if Acuna, Strider, and Austin being out for a considerable amount of the season shouldn’t have effected the team’s outcome because they were having slow starts because apparently players never come out of slumps…Your argument would hold more water if every hitter that got hurt went down like 10 games into the season.
The guy with the best chance to eventually come out of his slump was Ronald. He got hurt the earliest and is the most talented hitter. He did play a third of the season though; it isn't like he got hurt in April. Go through the rest of the OD roster though. These weren't just "slow starts:"Your argument is based on a sample size worth of stats from a slow start and then you act as if Acuna, Strider, and Austin being out for a considerable amount of the season shouldn’t have effected the team’s outcome because they were having slow starts because apparently players never come out of slumps…
I don’t understand the mental gymnastics one would have to come to that conclusion but whatever apparently I’m a troll for having a different opinion according some of your comrades lol so I guess blocking me is the best solution so feel free to do so if you want lol
So do you think all of these players are just going continue this trend of “sucking” for the rest of their careers? The guy with the best chance to eventually come out of his slump was Ronald. Murphy was awful when he returned from injury. Was also terrible the second half of 2023. TDA was healthy and had a real up-and-down year.
Olson was healthy all year and didn't hit.
Ozzie got hurt in late July and hadn't been hitting well since early May.
Mike got hurt in mid-June and hadn't been hitting since late April.
Riley got hurt in mid-August and wasn't hitting all year prior to the injury.
Arcia was healthy all year and was a complete black hole.
Kelenic was healthy all year; didn't hit. Same for Duvall.
Your argument would hold water if all of these guys were mashing the ball into say, May, and then all went down in May with season-ending injuries.
When have I suggested they'll suck for the rest of their careers? So do you think all of these players are just going continue this trend of “sucking” for the rest of their careers?
Idk dude even with the injuries you are mostly discounting we still made the playoffs…I would not consider that a “stinker of a season” but I guess my expectations went down after how everything transpiredWhen have I suggested they'll suck for the rest of their careers?
My whole point is that blaming the bad season simply on injuries isn't the entire picture. Murphy, Ozzie, Mike, and Riley played significant baseball prior to missing time, but weren't playing well prior to the injury. Olson, Arcia, and Kelenic/Duvall were healthy all year and each were awful. It wasn't like this team was clear division leaders at some point in the season, then several guys having great years got hurt, and then faltered.
Your argument would be more valid if each of those guys 1) missed way more time than they did due to injury, or 2) were knocking the cover off the ball prior to injury. The injuries the Braves had provided a nice cover to the stinker of a season they were having prior to going down.
