What a terrible thing it must be to be an AU basketball fan. I could actually hear hecklers in the crowd as if they were in my living room with me. Just goes to show us...it could be worse.

1. Championship level defense is being played right now. A perfect blend of man and zone and a strategic mixture of both to keep the opposing team guessing. Where has it been all season? I don't know, but it's coming together at the right time.

2. Offensive tempo and gameplan is finally being set the way our personnel is built to run. Work the ball to the paint first and foremost. Then beat them from outside or on the drive when the defense collapses.

3. Stokes is playing like a man who wants to be drafted right now. I don't know if that happens, but it won't be for lack of effort. He was double-teamed on nearly every possession, so what does he do? He sets a career high with 7 assists to go along with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

4. I think we are seeing the old Maymon again. He looks to have that agility and quickness that eluded him most of the season. I definitely saw it last night. His numbers haven't really suffered from a basketball standpoint, but he has been stiff and rigid looking all season. I saw that fluidity he possessed pre-injury last night.

5. McRae has finally learned to share the basketball, which was something I didn't think would happen. He has learned to rein in the bad shots and get the ball to the big men on occasion. Still took a questionable shot or two, but with a 20+ point lead, I'm okay with that.

6. If Barton had played like this all season long, we are likely talking about a possible 3 seed right now.

7. This team is playing with a sense of urgency unlike any we've seen from them all year. It's a little late, but not too late. They have the talent, and perhaps now, the mindset to make some postseason noice. Maybe the light finally came on.
For the seniors and Stokes, I hope that they can put together an improbable run.

8. The hustle has improved 100%, and we are winning 50-50 balls that we weren't winning a month ago.

9. We are finally getting some positive contributions from the bench (Moore, Reese, and Thompson specifically).

10. I know we should curb stomp Vandy and Auburn anyways, but for whatever reason, this season we have struggled to do that. So, beating them like this now is a sign of improvement. Before Vandy, I predicted we'd kill them and then come to Auburn and lose. Glad to have been wrong. Wehave now beaten Virginia and Vandy at home and Auburn and LSU on the road by am average of 30 points. If that Tennessee team shows up with consistency, we have the talent to threaten in the tournament. Hopefully, it's the NCAA tournament.

On to Senior Night vs Mizzou....Go Vols!

I understand the team's play is encouraging. However, look at who they played the last 3 games. If this turnaround is for real their tourney hopes will ride on the Mizzou game and how they do in the SEC tourney.

Great game on the road against a bad team. This weekend is the big one, I'm actually excited again about how this season could turn out.

Refer to bullet point #10. I'm not unintentionally jumping the gun on this bunch, nor am I ignoring the 28 games before last weekend that got them to this point. I'm just saying that it is encouraging to start pounding teams you should pound.

We very well may get beat by Mizzou. It only makes sense with this team. I'm just glad to see this team perform like I expected in the here and now. The near future will take care of itself.

Maymon still isn't close to full strength, but his team play & work ethic is vital to this team's success. GBO

I like our chances vs Mizzou at home. They are bad on the road this season and haven't looked that impressive at all recently, they barely beat A&M by 1 at home. (We won't talk about how we did vs A&M.) But we are playing significantly better ball right now, so I think a double digit win on Senior Day is likely.

Auburn had an announced attendance of 5,304 on Senior Night...I doubt that is what they had in mind for that new arena. Tony Barbee should start updating his resume.

He definitely looked lost on the sidelines. Burned through three TOs in the first half. I half expected him to burn through all of them before halftime to make a point.

I believe we beat Mizzou by double figures on Sat. Still need an SEC tourney win to be in for sure. Playing the way we are playing now, I would like another shot at the gators.

Barbee is the worst coach in college -- he wont need a resume since he conned AU into a big extension and the buyout will last him a long time

we still have work to do, simple as that. But were a lot closer than I thought we would be a month from now.

Win Saturday and root LSU on then the road to the SEC tourney championship becomes significantly easier. Hard to beat a team 3 times even if it is Fl. Go Vols.

Wake me up when they play someone good.

I understand these comments, but with this team we can't really say this. They also played Texas A&M, NC State, UTEP, Vandy with 7 scholarhip players. We should have beaten them too (Vandy twice)! So it's actually nice to see them beat the teams they are supposed to. I just wish that the team didn't take so long in the season to decide to play together!

Just a comment from a "Long time listener, first time poster".

1. Everyone that *****es about how awful it is here, we could be Auburn. That is what a dead basketball program looks like. Martin has done a great job here by any means, but what Tony Barbee has done to that program should be illegal.

2. Right now, if I was a team with a late first round pick and could use a backup big, Jarnell would be on the top of my board. He's played that well.

3. I wish Barton could have been more consistent this season, but he's found his shot again.

4. I think the movement on offense actually has purpose in every play. That's a first under Martin.

5. Tennessee finally has 100% committed to the pack line defense, which is something I've been calling for all year. It's working.

Good work Chris. You are outperforming me greatly with these postgame reports.

Who we are playing has nothing to do with Barton hitting open looks. It also has nothing to do with the urgency and intensity at which we are playing defense. Obviously Vandy and Aurburn missed more shots than a better team. But with the way we were playing defense even good teams would have been fighting tooth and nail just to get a good look. That is what is encouraging. Who cares what the margin of victory was against some bad teams. Now, will we continue to see that Barton and that defense the remainder of the season? That is the question nobody can answer. 'Inconsistency' should be the slogan printed on the warm-up shirts they wear. We will see.

You hit the nail right on the head.
