1. I don't know what happened. I don't know what they ate. I don't know who said what or who hit who or replaced certain players with robots, but this was a very important win. A potential disaster turned into a very nice win against a solid Xavier team.
2. This is the most apt way to put the Cuonzo Martin Era.

3. I loved what Tennessee did with Stokes and Maymon. They played some high/low with Stokes being able to get some easy post ups, but they did a nice job in the first half running side screens for drives. They cut really well today and it got McRae some nice paint points. It also opened up the lane. Really nice adjustment by Cuonzo and company.

5. The defense was much better. They did a much better job of guarding off ball and were physical. There was some more switching, even with Maymon, which seemed to screw with Xavier's offensive flow. They chased the three pointers off the line, and Stokes was a beast down low defensively. Matt Stainbrook can score, and he got some points, but they kept everything out of the paint today.
6. He didn't shoot well, but I really liked the assertiveness Robert Hubbs showed. Keep attacking young man, it will fall. He needs to be that guy to give UT a spark, and he did tonight on both ends. He also showed a willingness to rebound.
7. Bernard King Player of the Game: Jarnell Stokes. Quite simply, this was his best effort as a Vol. He was almost unrecognizable. He was dominant inside and used a variety of post moves. He finished with his left hand. He was decisive in the post. He rebounded with great energy. His defensive effort was there. He played like a beast today.
8. Jeronne Maymon came alive today. He looked more energetic and had a little more bounce in his step than usual. His quickness was there, which is surprising. If he plays like that, good luck stopping UT.
9. Only issue? They took the air out of the ball a little too early for my liking. Thought that wasn't the best coaching decision. Run the offense all the way. But I won't be too greedy today.
10. Again, a potential disaster was avoided assuming UT can win tomorrow. The goal was two wins. That doesn't excuse the pitiful effort and performance from last night, but I will gladly take this win. Get two wins, especially if you play like you did today, and you should at least feel somewhat positive about your team. Beating a healthy Xavier by 15 after last night's performance is impressive. The coaching staff deserves a lot of credit tonight, just like they deserved a lot of blame last night.Coming out like Tennessee did today after last night's performance is a testament to keeping your guys focus, which has been a problem. I'm just glad I can smile after a Tennessee basketball game. Now it's time to get some leftovers!
Go Vols!!! :hi:
