The best idea I've heard in a long..long while

Being from just north of Nashville, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Vandy, and, though this is against the Vol code, my 2nd favorite team is Vanderbilt (what can I say? My whole family is Vol/Vandy fans).

I would be ecstatic for Vandy to join the Big Ten. It gives them the ability to be more competitive and start fresh in a new conference (and begin a new tradition that isn't one of losing to all your SEC foes).

I could probably be a Vol and 'Dore fan in peace if this happened, lol.

I would welcome either Va. Tech before I would welcome West Virginia in the SEC. Va. Tech is one of those teams that just has a "toughness" about them that would work well in the SEC.

The SEC ever invites Virginia Tech to join, I hope Tennessee is on their way to the Big 12 immediately. I have no interest in being in the same league as that worthless bunch.

LOL, what's wrong with Va. Tech?? Not many coaches have had the success of Beamer with what he has been given for rosters. They wore us out in the bowl.

Kudos to them. They beat a 7-5 team with a bunch of walkons and eighth team linebackers on the field. Impressive. The only people who would benefit from them joining the league are Awfulbarn, Mississippi State, and Arkansas. Barn, Starkvegas, and Fayettenam wouldn't look so terrible in comparison to Blacksburg.

Seriously . . . give me Miami or Austin or Tallahassee or Atlanta. Keep Blacksburg.

Georgia Tech should be allowed back in the SEC simultaneous with the freezing over of Hell.

Well, with a gun to your head do you go to atlanta for a road game or Virginias biggest hole?

I'm all for vandy heading to the big ten. They fit right in as an academic institution and athletic program.

Leaving the SEC certainly was not the most brilliant move Ga Tech ever made. It pretty much sentenced them to play no better than 3rd fiddle in their own town to UGA and whatever pro sport is in season.

Blacksburg's not that bad.

It's got cows...and one semi-ok main strip...and Roanoke 50 miles away.

Using Blacksburg as the reason for not wanting to have Va. Tech is a cop out. When combined with Roanoke which is just a hop skip and jump away its certainly on par with Gainesville, Fayetteville, and Tuscaloosa/Birmingham. And much more attractive than Starkville, Oxford, and the Barn.

Its not like Lexington, Columbia, Knoxville, Red Stick, and Athens are meccas of civilization either.

I've generally heard pretty good things about Lexington, Knoxville, Athens and Oxford.

I ultimately don't see the value of adding VaTech to the SEC. Not really worth that much money, doesn't really bring that much new market in (what's their presence in DC, anyways?) and would probably be a middle of the road team.

Va Tech is a lateral move. Doesnt really add anything to the conference, doesnt diminish it either. Just another body.

Ga Tech had their shot and the chose to leave. No take backs. Their loss.

All of this animosity towards a bastion of learning centrally situated in the Athens of the South.

Can't we all just get along?

We wouldn't have to worry about losing a W off the schedule, we could play them at the end of every year, same weekend as FSU & Florida.

What took you so long? :eek:lol:

I've been derelict in my duties.

I would prefer Vanderbilt simply get out of the SEC. Which league they go to doesn't much matter to me.

Honestly, I wouldn't care much if they moved. I'd miss having ringside seats to games against UT or UK an hour from home, but overall, it might be good for my alma mater.

I would point out, however, that Vandy is pretty competitive everywhere except football, and historically, there isn't a lot of difference between the Dores and UK, MSU, or South Carolina in that sport, either. All are pretty equally awful.
