The best idea I've heard in a long..long while

Kentucky actually has a couple of SEC titles to their name, as does Miss State (and the '98 SEC West title).

Current SEC teams record against the SEC (though this does include before some joined the conference):

Bama: 0.675
Tenn: 0.632
UGA: 0.602
UF: 0.575
LSU: 0.569
Aub: 0.565
Miss: 0.447
Ark: 0.440
MSU: 0.340
Vandy: 0.340
SCar: 0.336
UK: 0.316

But you're right, they do historically comprise the bottom 1/3rd of the conference, and it's pretty apparent.

MSU's championship was in 1941, and UK's last one was over 30 years ago (and preceded a probation.) SC has never won a conference title in any league. Overall winning percentages pretty well track the conference records as well, with Vandy, Carolina, and UK all at 50% and State at a dismal 47%.

Kicking Vandy, Miss State and South Carolina out of the SEC and replacing them with other teams is the best idea anybody could come up with. None of these teams add anything to the conference.
