A reuben is supposed to have sauerkraut on it. That looks like cole slaw on that sammich.

I don't put sauerkraut on my Reubens. Too intense of a flavor for me.

Speaking of which, where is the best place in Knox to get a good Reuben? Pimento's used to be my favorite but they are closed down now.

Without kraut, it is just a corned beef sammich.

This was discussed in the best restaurants in Knoxville forum last year. Someone, i believe Bamawriter, recommended Nick and Jay's on Lovell Road. I went down and tried it. It is not the best Reuben I have had but it was good. I would go back.

This thread inspired a trip to Public for Boar's Head corned beef, kraut, and rye. Added some swiss cheese and homemade Russian dressing. Perfect rainy day lunch.

The low and slow smoked meats, boston butt , brisket, turkey, chicken and bologna (the Big Chub tube). Those meats also make excellent tacos and quesadillas. Deli meats are good if you don't have time to cook.
