The "Big Fish" Quarterback Rumor

This is a delicate situation. Stone and Prater are both in conversation with Sims, but Sims is talking to Askew and he is thinking about coming down to visit at UT. If Sims enrolls in December he could the starting QB fall of 2010.

The reason Matt Prehm cannot confirm is because if the rumors get out too far Saban will go insane. Saban does not even want Sims to visit his old teammate during the season. Bottom line is that TN does have a very good chance with Sims and he would be a hero if he came here. His announcement would also possibly bring Prater and would definitely bring Stone.

The big news is that he is considering coming for a visit. If he announces he is coming for a visit during the season it would be amazing.

We all think this is the best recruiting staff in the country, so we should not be too shocked by this development. It would be nice if every year the number 1 at the position we covet most came to our team.

If we finish with Uko as our last DT, Ego Ferguson and Ronald Powell, Prater and Cobb, Stone and Damien Robinson, Josh Shirley, Luc and Dietrich Riley it would be the greatest recruiting class in the history of Tennessee football.

It is unlikely we get all that, but even 50% of it will establish Kiffin as a coach who can go up against UF, Alabama and USC and win a recruiting battle...Awesome!

Now is the time for optimism, for hopes and dreams. The list above is as likely as an 11 win season for TN (not very) but it is a good time to be excited about the fact that it is possible. At this time of the year lots and lots of teams have absolutely no shot at overtaking Texas. Being one of the teams that does have a shot is a great place to be and it is thanks to our great coaching staff.

From a man who claims he is an insider on tos

"Simms is indeed commited to the vols and the world should come out in anywhere from today to next week"

I know for a fact that's not true. I'm not saying that the answer to this riddle is or isn't Phillip Sims, I'm just saying the only school he is committed to is Bama.

I wouldn't be shocked if something happened soon with him though. There's just too much smoke around him.

Sure makes me wonder if this staff can pull Seantrel in the last moments of signing day. They pulled Bryce (#1 overall), then the next year; the #1 WR (Prater), #1 Pro QB (Sims); who's to say they don't sway Seantrell. The upside of this staff's recruiting prowess amazes. Everybody is on the board at all times. If they can't coach their way out of a wet paper bag on game day, the talent that looks to be flocking to UT will be just like the 90's. Winning despite the coaching. If we get the talent and the coaching...Kiff'll have my mancrush.

So sab do you think Tennessee will end up with this "big fish"?

I'm not going to compromise the integrity of the pay sites but certain individuals are confident we haul Sims in. That is all I can refer to. One of the individuals that projects Sims to commit also knew that Lamainson was coming. Guys try not to read more into than what there is. I personally am skeptical that a guy that is recruiting very hard for Bama is now ready to switch sides. But I have learn to never doubt the prowess of this staff and the capabilities they can show.

The last time the rumors came out he came out and said it wasnt true.. If this is not true he will prob have an article today saying its not true.imo

Haha. I would crap myself if that were to happen. Would be hard to say no if the offense ended up looking like this though...

QB Sims
RB Brown/Oku
FB Fugate
TE Jones
WR Prater/Milton
WR Ambles/Cobbs
WR Teague/Richardson
OL Fulton
OL Robinson
OL Stone
OL Schofield

Henderson would be crazy not to want to play with that. I highly doubt Tennessee gets all of those players or Henderson. Not being on someones radar not only doesn't prevent the staff from going after them but sometimes the staff wins. This staff rules.

I agree.. I dont want to get my hopes up but it is very hard not to with it being regarding a QB regardless of who it is

It is absolutely amazing how much impact this could have. If we do actually get Simms, it could go a long way in preserving CLK's job security. Not only would it likely cause a big wave in offensive recruiting and be a big kick to Saban's lady parts, but it would provide us with the centerpiece our team needs to be successful in the future. We all know how high Vol fans' expectations get. CLK needs a big time QB a lot sooner than later to live up to the hype we and/or he generate(s)!

There are probably more but the only two I knew of were Stone and Prater. They are high on Tennessee so even if he switches sides... he did nothing to help Bama and Tennessee has an even better shot of landing those two. Him recruiting them for Bama and Tennessee is just a coincidence but it would make it easier for him to switch sides knowing he could still pull them in. :)

Everyone says how hard he recruited for them be he has been quoted saying I dont have to do to much that alabama recruits for itself
