The Big Tech March to Silence Free Speech

Curious. Do you agree with Trump that Section 230 should be repealed or not?

If you do agree with Trump, then you obviously cannot take the simultaneous position that social network providers shouldn't monitor speech on their sites.

I'll say the same thing I've been saying, it's an antitrust issue.

Apple says that it will invest $60 million to support minority entrepreneurs, a move that comes as part of a “racial equity and justice” project to challenge “systemic racism.”

The report added that Apple will invest $10 million in a fund with Harlem Capital, a New York-based early-stage venture firm, and another $25 million in Siebert Williams Shank’s Clear Vision Impact Fund, which provides financing to businesses with an emphasis on minority-owned firms.

Apple is also investing another $25 million into the Propel Center, a facility in Atlanta where historically Black colleges and universities will collaborate on programs in entrepreneurship, and app development.

Oh please, Karen.

All your handwringing will break your pretty nails, hun.

Don't fret. Just remember that when "dissent" = violent insurrection, the adults are gonna give you a time out.

Didn’t think you would understand the trend immediately. A little slow on the uptake, but that’s fine. And that’s the whole point you failed to understand from my post, they’ll categorize any dissent as “insurrection”. But you’ll never call it that way. You’ll just ignore it because you’ve sided with it.

For example, patriotism = white supremacy, for which you will be classified a domestic terrorist.

France, Germany, Mexico, Australia Join International Outcry over Censorship of Donald Trump

An international outcry over tech censorship is underway, as political leaders from Mexico to Europe voice their alarm at the unchecked power of Big Tech, following the purge of President Donald Trump by the Big Tech Masters of the Universe

Germany

German chancellor Angela Merkel, whose pro-migration, anti-hate speech policies have little in common with President Trump or his movement, has nonetheless expressed concern at Silicon Valley’s unchecked power.

France

French political leaders also voiced their opposition. The finance minister of France, Bruno Le Maire, condemned what he called a “digital oligarchy,” calling it “one of the threats” to democracy.

Mexico

The French and German leaders join president Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico, an avowed socialist, who was the first world leader to condemn Facebook and Twitter for banning president Trump.

“I don’t like anybody being censored or taking away from the right to post a message on Twitter or Face(book). I don’t agree with that, I don’t accept that,” said López Obrador.

“This is really serious” he added.

The United Kingdom

The Prime Minister of Britain, Boris Johnson, was reportedly alarmed at Silicon Valley censorship even before Trump was permanently removed from Twitter and other platforms.

In November, the Daily Mail quoted a senior government source who said the Prime Minister was considering new laws against tech censorship following Twitter’s censoring of President Trump during the U.S. presidential election.

The European Union

Manfred Weber, leader of the largest party group in the European Parliament, said “we cannot leave it to American Big Tech to decide how we can or cannot discuss online,” labeling it a threat to the “consensus building” that is “crucial in free and democratic societies.”

Poland

Poland, run by a populist-nationalist government, has long taken the issue of tech censorship seriously. The Polish government is in the process of passing a law that would fine tech companies millions of euros for censoring content that is legal in Poland.

Hungary

The government of Hungary, a resolute enemy of the international cultural left, began an investigation into tech censorship in Europe in 2019. A new anti-censorship social network, Hundub, was recently launched in the country. In the same year, Hungary also fined Facebook for claiming its services are “free.”

Australia

In the Pacific, leaders of the center-right government of Australia including the Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, and the Treasurer, Josh Fryndenburg, also voiced their opposition to the bans of Trump from social media.

Russia

In Russia, opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was the victim of attempted assassination by poisoning last year, said Silicon Valley’s actions bear the hallmarks of authoritarianism.

“If you replace ‘Trump’ with ‘Navalny’ in today’s discussion, you will get an 80% accurate Kremlin’s answer as to why my name can’t be mentioned on Russian TV and I shouldn’t be allowed to participate in any elections.”

Norway

Jonas Gahr Støre, leader of the left-wing Labour party in Norway and a favorite to become the next Prime Minister of the country, also criticized the censorship.

“This is a line where freedom of expression is also at stake,” said Støre. “If Twitter starts with this sort of thing, it means that they have to go around the world and look at other people completely astray, and shut them out.”

Sounds like every country but China is against Twitter’s censorship. Hhmmmmm,,, wonder why China has kept quiet?

You can go in just about any long political thread on Twitter and find liberals calling for violence. They might have a system, but it's only for conservatives.
Regardless of whether or not you like the system, it's something that Parler doesn't have. That's the difference between the two websites.

Mexico’s Left-Wing President Mounts International Campaign Taking On Tech Companies After Trump Bans

Jan 14, 2021 DailyWire.com

Left-wing Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reportedly vowed to take on tech companies on Thursday in response to the bans that President Donald Trump has faced on social media.

“I can tell you that at the first G20 meeting we have, I am going to make a proposal on this issue,” López Obrador said. “Yes, social media should not be used to incite violence and all that, but this cannot be used as a pretext to suspend freedom of expression.”

“How can a company act as if it was all powerful, omnipotent, as a sort of Spanish Inquisition on what is expressed?” López Obrador asked.

Move for State Governments to Divest Big Tech Stocks Expands to Tennessee

The move for state governments to divest their pension funds of Big Tech stocks gathered momentum on Wednesday when Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles called on the Tennessee General Assembly to consider legislation along the lines proposed by a state legislator in Florida on Tuesday.

“I write today to ask that you order the immediate divestment of any Florida-held equity and debt of the following companies: Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Apple, and Alphabet (Google),” State Rep. Randy Fine (R-Melbourne Beach) said in a letter sent to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican on Tuesday.

The state of Florida has $200 billion under management by the Florida State Board of Administration.

On Wednesday, Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles, who specifically referenced Fine’s letter to DeSantis as a model, sent a letter to Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, a Republican, Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, Speaker Cam Sexton, and all members of the Tennessee General Assembly, requesting “that the Governor and/or General Assembly take the immediate steps necessary to divest Any and All Tennessee-held equity and debt of the following companies: Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, Apple and Alphabet aka Google.”

“The Tennessee Treasury Department internally manages investments in domestic equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate and strategic lending valued at approximately $50 billion throughout the year,” the state government’s website reports.

So, you saying that parley needs to promote violence from a liberal stand point to stay in business? And that’s okay with you? If it had been liberals storming the capital you’d be okay with that.
