NBC announced today that they have renewed The Blacklist for a second 22-episode season for Fall 2014. The decision comes as The Blacklist continues to prove itself to be a reliable hit in a season where new series have failed to break-out. The James Spader led crime drama holds the distinction of being the number one drama in the key 18-49 demo. Furthermore, The Blacklist is NBCs most-watched drama in 19 years (Earth 2 was the former reigning champ).
The success of The Blacklist demonstrates that inspired storytelling is alive and well in broadcast television, and Im impressed on a daily basis by this creative teams imagination and the extent to which they will go to capture this grand vision on film, Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment said. With gratitude to both our partners at Sony Pictures Television and our NBC development executives who took a great script and shepherded it into a great series, I hope that Red Reddington never runs out of names to bring down on his list!
