The Black Tax

What? I see the complete truth in what he is saying. 100%
The left grossly overplays the racist angle and the right grossly dominates the more racist end of the continuum.

As a black man, I strongly disagree. The left is the most racist and dangerous group of people to me and my family. They care nothing about me. They use me and want my vote by buying it from me while truly believing I need their protection and help. People like you are so blinded and lost you are beyond hope. I realize that, so this is not aimed at changing your mind because it likely will never be changed...but I cannot sit here and let such preposterous and completely opposite lies be told without correcting.

The beauty is that we are both free to form our own opinions.
Most black men (and women) I know strongly disagree with you, and again, nothing wrong with that.

Bryant Gumbel closes HBO 'Real Sports' episode with commentary on the 'Black Tax'

So this is from Bryant Gumbel. I wanted to start a new thread because I wanted to approach the idea of a "White Tax" as well, even though I'm sure it will be called racist. Despite popular belief, many white people also have to "check" their feelings. Despite not being a racist, I often feel that I have to be careful how I word things so as not to offend. We live in a world where the term "racist" is thrown out at the drop of a hat, even when race plays no part in the conversation. Often, it seems that just being white makes one a racist. I've seen people look for things to pounce on that they could decry as racism despite race not being an actual issue.

There is a real problem in this nation in that it seems both sides feel they have to walk on egg shells, somewhat. That is not unique to black people. People of all colors, even white people, often feel this way. Sure, there are arrogant exceptions out there, but many people live in fear of accidently offending others. And in society today, being labeled a racist is just as ugly as being labeled a rapist. And in some cases even more damaging. Accused rapists at least enjoy due process where accused racists often suffer consequences without getting to tell their side.

As a nation, we are so desperately in need of a conversation where everything gets put out on the table, honestly and freely, without fear of judgement. But right now, that seems virtually impossible.
Bryant Gumbel is black?!??

You obviously aren’t “really” black.
