The Braves Thread

Genuine question: will moving some of the young cats that are starters in the minors to a bullpen role late in the season alter their development? Does that make it difficult to transition back into a starter?

Not for a month or two I would say. Actually help limit innings too. Problem is sometimes you have enough rotation slots or they’re so good in the pen you leave them for a year or two and it’s hard to move back (Joba, Feliz, Chapman for example).

Just can’t overuse them cause they aren’t use to throwing as frequently

I would not leave Touki or Fried out there for next season. Start the guys or trade them. None have faltered.

Hot take: Bituli will be all SEC this year

Yep, back in December when I was on my way home listening to the talking heads discuss Pruitt while they were waiting for the announcement PC to start he was the guy I thought man I can't wait to see what they do with him he looks like the prototypical Pruitt/Bama OLB.

Touki I would definitely keep as a starter. Can always move that talent to the pen later. Fried is probably gonna get caught in the numbers game despite the fact he’s looked good in his starts this year. A lot of what happens with him could be dependent on what they do with Julio. We know Newk/Folty/Soroka/Gausman will be in the rotation, if Julio is gone will leave a 5th spot open and that could be Fried’s.

Minter
Brach
Venters
Biddle
Winkler
Carle
Fried
L Jackson

Add Touki and Viz and that’s a crew

It still blows my mind that if we get in a playoff series Anibal Sanchez would be a deserving game 3 starter.

Boys- I won a JSA Signed Acuña photo in a raffle and I get to choose one of the two. Which one should I get?

If the Braves are in the wildcard game , who should start? Anibal is probably the most reliable and you know he won't let the pressure get to him.

If it was today, I'd let Anibal pitch the WC game

Folty

I’d want absolutely nothing to do with a wild card game. It was stressful enough as is in 2012. Something you could do is start Anibal through the first three innings then piggyback Folty for 2-3 inning and let the bullpen ride.

I think that would work. I'm not sure Snit would do that though
