There are a lot of different angles on why it’s working, imo but specifically from an American point of view - the players are awesome. You’ve got pretty close to the best lineup you could put together of American guys and they want to be there.
The pitching leaves a lot to be desired BUT what it means is that the guys who are out there, really want to be out there. The Adam Wainwright tweets sum it up - they’re really proud to be on the field with USA across their chest and they’re having the time of their lives.
from a player perspective - once you get in that atmosphere, it’s amazing. And the competitor in you comes out even if you weren’t fully sold on being there. Baseball itself is great theater. You can’t control what happens but when you get awesome players on the field laying it on the lines in win or go home games over and over it writes itself
from a global perspective - the game is growing massively, players are getting better and what’s be deemed as disrespect or “added flair” in the past is more so being embraced as raw emotion
