The Braves Thread

This is just dumb.
The Portal is the sea change, not NIL. Bidding wars for players are occurring because those guys can leave for somewhere else and play immediately on a new NIL deal. If the old transfer rules were in place, very few guys would sit out a year and lose earnings/draft stock.

Eventually this stuff is going to get more rules around it. Not even professional athletes (unless they've got opt-outs in their deals) can do what college players are able to do right now.

Ita still stupid

We might have more NIL dollars available if the quarterback didn’t make so much to be so meh
I'm starting to think that if Nico isn't 2022 Hendon Hooker next year, we're looking at 6-6 or 7-5.

He was coddled this year, which made sense at some points but didn't at others. He will need to be not only fully unboxed but playing at a pretty high level next year if we are going to be good.

Maybe this is unfair but any player that is interested in Colorado right now is automatically a red flag to me. Especially if they are also making crazy demands.
I don't think it is unfair at all. Guys should be free to go to where they want to, but I'm leery of guys where money is the sole consideration. I'm OK with it being the #1 consideration, but not the sole consideration. Some of these guys I think would play in a parking lot in South Dakota for an NAIA school if they were the top offer.

I don't think money is #1. The black card Deion plays is. Remember Seaton the LT who went to Colorado because he wanted to play for a coach that looked like him.
I think the same things is in play for Boo, and that's the intrest as much as anything.

This isn't an I hate NIL thing. He hasnt done anything to prove he's worth that at this point.
Neither has Nico. Other guys see that too.

Boo had a good season (and a great season, IMO, for a true freshman at that position) and is trying to maximize his earnings. In any other industry or business, everybody would just look at this as a fact of life and totally understandable.
