This is unreal. Roddick's arm is going to tear off his shoulder if he keeps serving this hard for this long.

I don't think Federer is even trying anymore when Roddick is serving. It's like he's just waiting for him to tear his rotator cuff or something.

Anyone see that comment from Roddick during Federer's victory speech? Roger seemed to take it as a joke, but it looked like Andy was pretty pissed.

this is ridiculous. they need a 5th set tie break rule.

no way. I love that you can't win a major with a tie break. What a match. Followed while I was out on the golf course, then watched then end after the round. Just watched a replay a little bit ago.

Fantastic performance from both players and Andy has to feel good about his chances when he gets back on the hard court. He was still serving near 140 after it was 12-12 in the fifth set. That's insane. It might be the moment, but I think that was better than Federer-Nadal last year.

Roddick was ranked #1 and won majors. He just happened to come along at the same time as the best tennis player of all time. He still has the most intimidating serve in the game, likely even all time. He's just not better all the time than Federer or Nadal. I would expect Roddick to be just as much a favorite at Flushing Meadows as Federer will be.

He only won 1 major, right?

Yeah, my bad. He's now either 1-5 or 1-6 in major finals, with all the losses coming against Federer. I think it's 1 US Open and 4 Wimbledons. Can't remember if he ever made an Aussie final or not.

I dunno, at least Agassi beat Sampras enough to keep it interesting. Poor Roddick just seems to get owned in almost every defining moment of his career..

Sampras and Agassi would both be getting thumped by Federer as well. And taking someone to a 30 game fifth set is definitely not getting "owned".

His game is a poor matchup against Fed. Better movement and fitness helps.

Maybe a little too harsh, great match but the fact is he still lost. If he won this match i think you can rewrite his legacy just based on this match, yet once again he came up a tad short..

hey no beef against Roddick, after all he gets to go home and get comforted by this girl

Agassi could have played with Federer. Fed couldn't have beaten Pete with Pete's rackets on the old fast grass of Wimbledon. These new rackets are very much a part of the Nadal and Fed games.
