If Penn State beats Wisconsin, doesnt get into the playoffs yet Ohio State does, then conference championships should be done away with.

Lol and go back to the BCS? No thanks.

It needs to go to 8 teams with 5 spots for conference champs.

That's exactly what I think! I didn't say go back to worse!
It's stupid to win your conference but 2 schools from your conference could get in and you don't .

Ohio State is one of the four best teams in the country. So is Michigan. Penn State is a great story but despite beating OSU they would lose 80% of the time.

I just hate how the committee changes it to fit their narrative and get their money. The first year it was winning your conference outright so Ohio State could get in. Last year it was about resumes to get Oklahoma and Michigan State in (much bigger draws) than Stanford who was better than both. This year it is about "the clear four best teams" to get Clemson and Ohio State in to appease the conferences and like I said...get thaf money.

I have always said that for the NCAA basketball tournament, giving the conf tourney winner an automatic berth -- they make the regular season pointless

Yep all about money.

You MUST win your conference.
You MUST have the edge in head to head.

Well, unless you're program is bigger and will mean more money.

Then we can change things.

Regardless, all we're going to hear for the next 2 months is why the playoffs should be expanded to 6 or 8 games. And in that case, you have to figure out how to start paying these kids.

You could make a case for Oklahoma,Ohio State, Michigan, or Penn St. for the fourth spot. Ohio St wins and lose combination probably look the best.

This is what is wrong with having people pick who they think should be in the playoffs as opposed to every other level of football or every other sport , where it is determined by a pre determined criteria who makes it. Set before the season starts and not after the season.

"Michigan is one of the best 4 teams"

Are they? May be but its not proven!
They lost 2 games, one was against Iowa ??
Washington lost to USC, they both beat Colorado , I think Washington beat them worse??? Some think Michigan is better, but are they??? I don't know.

It doesn't matter. It's all about money.

I saw Michigan State survive against a severely overrated Iowa team while Stanford pummel Iowa a month later. Just watching football in November you saw that Stanford was better while Michigan State should have been 9-3. But hey gotta keep the Big Ten happy so it's all about RESUME. Oklahoma lost to a 5-7 Texas team in an overrated Big XII but both them and Michigan State bring better ratings and better attendance at games than Stanford. That's what the committee put down our throats was that it was all about your resume to keep Stanford out.

The year before it was all about conference championships and winning them outright to get Ohio State in over TCU and Baylor because Ohio State brings more money/ratings/attendance etc. It was that simple.

This year it will be about THE FOUR BEST TEAMS to make sure Ohio State and Washington gets in to keep everyone happy and the pockets fat. That's all that matter.

I agree, one year conference championship means more, head to head means more, the next it's just 4 "best" teams!
Ohio st, Michigan , Bama , USC , NotreDame, etc. will always be preferred over other teams with equal or sometimes better records.
I believe the commitee will prove that when Penn st is out and Ohio state is in.
Conference champ and win head to head but we like the other team better

So a better loss is worth more than head to head and a conference championship?

That's what you're basically saying to keep PSU out and OSU in.

Logically Penn State should be in and OSU out. They won what most everyone says is the toughest conference this year. And they beat the team that many want to say is better. But nothing about this country is based on logic. It's always about financial gain and personal agendas.
