We shall see. If they are still #2 in the rankings then yes they are clearly better than Penn State.
Ohio State beat Oklahoma and Wisconsin on the road. Beat Michigan.
Penn State beat Ohio State at home and Wisconsin on a neutral field.
Who has the better resume?
I feel like you don't understand the terms you're using. Claiming OSU is "clearly better" than PSU after getting beat by them is not congruent with rational thought or simple logic.
So by Ohio State being in the playoff and Penn State is not that would make Ohio State clearly the better team right?
Huh? Pretty sure that is not the case. The regular season champ gets an automatic bid to the NIT if they don't make it to the NCAA Tournamnent.
The major conferences - especially the larger ones award both a regular season championship (UT has one from 2008) well as a conference tournament championship. The NCAA recognizes both as conference championships.
Doesn't the tournament recognizes both through bids for the major conferences?
(With the smaller conferences and mid-majors, completely different scenario/situation.)
It is what the committee decided because the committee wants the $$$$ from A OSU-BAMA national championship game.
DING DING DING!!!!We have a winner!!! This is all about money. OSU is in because they're OSU and a bigger name than Penn St. Washington is in because a west coast representative draws a west coast audience which generates ratings. Penn St is a boring team and would not draw the same audience that Ohio St or Washington will. The playoff committee showed they play by the rules that benefits the all mighty dollar and ESPN.
Go to 8 teams and don't give me the BS about kids missing school. Last I checked the NCAA Tourney goes on for like a month and kids miss plenty of class
