The Conference championship game needs to abolished

We shall see. If they are still #2 in the rankings then yes they are clearly better than Penn State.

Ohio State beat Oklahoma and Wisconsin on the road. Beat Michigan.

Penn State beat Ohio State at home and Wisconsin on a neutral field.

Who has the better resume?

I feel like you don't understand the terms you're using. Claiming OSU is "clearly better" than PSU after getting beat by them is not congruent with rational thought or simple logic.

So dumb. Ohio State is clearly better than Penn State based on their schedules and who they beat and where. Not that hard.

Also is Clemson clearly better than Pitt? Looking forward to your answer.

I like the 5 conf champs + 3 at-large idea.

SEC - Alabama
B1G - Penn State
ACC - Clemson
PAC12 - Washington
BIG12 - Oklahoma
At Large - Ohio State
At Large - Michigan?
At Large - Western Michigan?

So by this logic Pitt is better than Penn State?

We need to immediately cancel our yearly game with Bama, and determine who is most likely to win the East each year and let that be our only loss of the season. The playoff committee has basically just said conference championships are meaningless.

So by Ohio State being in the playoff and Penn State is not that would make Ohio State clearly the better team right?

"Clearly"? No. But a case can be made.

I really don't have much problem with OSU getting in. I can easily make the case that they are one of the 4 "best" teams. But, are the one of the 4 "most deserving" teams? No, I don't believe they are.

Huh? Pretty sure that is not the case. The regular season champ gets an automatic bid to the NIT if they don't make it to the NCAA Tournamnent.

The major conferences - especially the larger ones award both a regular season championship (UT has one from 2008) well as a conference tournament championship. The NCAA recognizes both as conference championships.

Doesn't the tournament recognizes both through bids for the major conferences?

(With the smaller conferences and mid-majors, completely different scenario/situation.)

No. If a school wins their regular season conference in basketball, they are guaranteed an NIT spot, not an NCAA berth. Only automatics are winning your conference tourneys. Can't recall any major conference having a regular season champ not get an at large though.

Totally discounting the quality of wins Ohio State has. Ohio State is clearly better than Penn State and simply saying they should be in based on 2 games is silly.

It's clear as muddy water! The team that lost when they played is clearly better???

It is what the committee decided because the committee wants the $$$$ from A OSU-BAMA national championship game.

DING DING DING!!!!We have a winner!!! This is all about money. OSU is in because they're OSU and a bigger name than Penn St. Washington is in because a west coast representative draws a west coast audience which generates ratings. Penn St is a boring team and would not draw the same audience that Ohio St or Washington will. The playoff committee showed they play by the rules that benefits the all mighty dollar and ESPN.

Go to 8 teams and don't give me the BS about kids missing school. Last I checked the NCAA Tourney goes on for like a month and kids miss plenty of class

Then people will complain about the 9th and 10th ranked team not getting in. Will never be able to please everybody.

I think I'd recheck that Washington creates more draw than Penn St comment. No one out west will give a crap about Washington other than Washington fans.
