The Cuonzo Martin Tenure As Of Today

First off let's get the he is a racist slanders out of the way. I have been accused if it to many times before because I ask the hard truth questions that most people are to chicken to ask. But my question is. Did UT hire Martin because he was black? He did not have a proven track record. I know with all the crap UT had to go through no one wanted the job. But there had to be a better option out there. Yes its been said a hundred times that Martin sucks. And there have been a hundred threads who should they hire. But the proof is in the pudding. He can coach good defense. But his offense.needs work. That being said. I know Bruce isn't coming back. But I wish he was still the coach. Martin needs to take some lessons from all the hours of tape on Bruce. Lighten the heck up. Get amped up on the sideline. Fire up these boys. Paint his chest orange and show some excitement. Let loose like a Saturday morning belch after a Friday night benge. OK I will shut up and go back to my. Wait. What was my point??? Oh yeah I didn't have one. Just wanted to ramble. Where is my beer????

his player development hasnt been that bad. recruiting has been ok too.


but everything else is bad, especially the only thing that matters: march.

Same team as the past three years with 5 star players everywhere. Any decent coach would take this team to the Sweet 16, and neesless to say, Zo isn't gonna come close.

Martin was hired because he was one of a very select few willing to jump into the potential dumpster fire situation left behind.

Why is it that our coaching changes are always so much worse than literally ever other school that has a coaching change?

Because the coach before always gets us in some sort of NCAA trouble. Kiffin to Dooley...Pearl to Martin.

Cuonzo's better for the women's basketball team than he is for the men't team because his misfortunes keep reminding us that at least our women's team is pretty good.

such bs. you pay for a good coach and you will get one, regardless of situation. especially after the success UT just had and the great facilities.

lets quit acting like this program had some terrible sanctions on it.


why would frank martin want to jump into the dumpsterfire of a program like South Carolina.

The NCAA hadn't made their decision on the sanctions. If UT kept Pearl, they would've been so much worse. Would you accept a job offer if the IRS was sniffing all around it and could slam it? If you did, you're dumber than some of your posts. The fact is the coaches did not know what was going to happen and the risk outweighed the reward for most every one.

Throw the money at them and they will come. Paying players is way worse than what Pearl did. Eddie Sutton's situation didn't stop KY in going after and getting Patino. If you go after small time, then that's what you get. If you want to pay up and give guaranteed long term contracts, then you will get who you want.

To add on what I said. I think that if Martin is canned, then with the program out of the eye of the NCAA I think they'll be able to land a more proven coach. But people need to realize that

1) we are a power house historically
2) we play in the SEC and it's probably at it's worst right now

Our name or money has never been able to to pull a huge name, we have always had to take a shot and get an unproven coach and hope for the best. We got lucky with CBP, and it's looking like we weren't as lucky this time around. I like CCM a lot and support him, but just like CBP I don't care much for his offense. It used to kill me to watch CBP's teams wait until 10 seconds left and jack up a 3. (Controlled chaos). Now it kills me to watch this team run around in circles for 20 seconds and then decide to throw it to the post. I do like to see the screens, but I think CCM needs to install something else into the play book for when that doesn't work or when they throw a zone after us.

Not sure we would have paid a debilitating punishment if we had stepped up handed down our own sanctions if we kept Pearl, but that is water under the bridge.

You really want to be like KY in basketball? They hired the proven cheater who screwed over two programs and probably will them soon enough. Forgive me for having enough ethics, which will be reflected in my family and children, to not sacrifice things that are right just to win a damn basketball game.

On the bright side, I heard we are projected to win the World of Warcraft Championship this year. Would be a statement.
