The disney insanity continues

You still don't get it. Disney has been paying twice. Once via taxes and once via a contract to provide services. So, for the last 50 years the citizens have received a tax benefit.
Yes Disney has been paying taxes, but not to the same level (both above and below the table) has the locals been providing those services. As a former company president said as he picked up the tab... I can't afford the markup...

Trust me, Disney has the best legal and accounting talent in the country working on this. Most state AGs were not the top lawyers in their law school class. You can be sure they will work this to Disney's advantage long term.

In the end we are all here to feed the Mouse.

If they had the best legal talent in the country, they should have warned their boss about opening his big mouth just to appease a handful of hyper woke loons in his company. Of course maybe they did warn him and he just ignored their advice

Disneyland Hotel in California pays woman $100,000 to Settle Lawsuits after she claimed she was bitten by Bed Bugs that caused serious rash on her ENTIRE body

The Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California is paying one woman $100,000 to settle her lawsuit claiming that she was bitten by bed bugs during her stay and suffered a serious rash as a result.

Dr. Ivy Eldridge claimed in her 2018 lawsuit that she suffered physical and emotional damage after waking up with bedbug bites during her stay at the Disneyland Hotel in April of that year.

She accused the hotel staff of knowing that it had a bedbug issue and failing to notify her about the infestation prior to her stay, according to the suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The lawsuit also notes that Eldridge, a vice principal at a Riverside, California, school, 'endured many sleepless nights and much emotional and mental distress, coupled with other physical conditions associated with severe mental and emotional distress.'

Now, four years later, TMZ reports, the Disneyland Hotel has agreed to pay Eldridge $100,000 for the damages she incurred.

In 2016, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel&Spa was sued over bedbug problems.

Not what the stats say.

Not what the stats say.
You can manipulate stats and the books all you want to make things palatable. Every service that Disney directly provided that could have been taxpayer provided cost Disney less providing it directly. The county would increase the valuation of the Disney property to increase their tax revenue, or implement a "visitor tax" for tickets. And despite the fact that the government most often chooses the low bidder, we all know the government rarely choses the most cost effective solution..... if nothing else they saved the payola on each job.

The acid test, if the dismantling of Reedy Creek would have save Disney money, they would have called for it voluntarily long ago. The very fact that Disney (and its defenders in the media) are raising such an unholy tantrum over this tells you the truth. People about to get a benefit don’t normally howl and weep

Meh…Disney is too big to fail, and for every potential visitor turned off by their politics, there’s at least one (if not multiple) international visitors to take their place in the parks and hotels.

They sued the state over calculation of their property taxes, and won, not 4 years ago. It was big news. Anybody still saying FL will just ratchet up their property taxes without affecting the value of other Osceola/Orange co. residents is living a fantasy.

Meh…it’s just collateral damage for the inevitable DeSantis run for POTUS.

The rest of the country doesn’t care about taxpayers in Orange and Osceola County.

I still think a compromise will be struck before this law goes into effect. Hope so anyway.

I think so too, but the message is clear.

DeSantis has no problem throwing Central Florida taxpayers off a cliff because Disney disagreed with him.

I must have missed Disney's tantrum. The only thing I've heard is the Reedy Creek District reassuring their bondholders of stability.

I still can't grasp it- if DeSantis is able to levy a magical targeted tax on Disney to cover their services then isn't that a wash? They've been paying property taxes + their services + Reedy's bond debt for 55 years. What's the point of shifting the burden to Orange county and then restructuring the tax code to make Disney do what it's already doing? And on top of this Orange county wants no part of taking Reedy Creek over.

It's clearly a smokescreen and won't ever come to fruition. Even Ron's biggest donor isn't a fan

Disney is going to take a hit with all of this mess. I don't think it will sink them to bankruptcy or anything like that but it they will take a hit.

Companies just need to stay out of politics in general. I cannot fathom why Disney would have even commented on that law in the first place. Just leave all of this crap alone and do your thing.

DeSantis hs done exactly what he intended. 1) Established himself as one of the two leading candidates for the 2024 Republican nomination for President and 2) given a clear brush back pitch to CEO‘s who wish to use their corporate megaphone to influence social legislation that had absolutely nothing to do with their business interests. Now ou can argue that those are not necessarily ethical motivations in your book; but I would not discount their pragmatic effectiveness

Take it from a Central Florida resident living in Orange County…Disney is not taking a hit over this.

Park attendance and hotel/resort occupancy has exceeded expectations and then some.
