at least courts that the Vols are on. I'm good with him reffing everyone else's games.

Teddy V is the one that stopped play to check the ball hitting the rim, right? The deflection could clearly be heard through the tv, but I know that would be impossible to detect in a loud gym.

Is he the least popular ref in the SEC? It seems like every team complains about him.

He sure does seem to be on the wrong side of a lot of calls.

TV Teddy Valentine has a tendency to try and get himself lots of airtime, at the expense of actually officiating. I can't imagine that anyone thinks he's even a decent official.

I'd prefer it if he was sitting next to Lane when the napalm falls.

Two birds, one stone.

I honestly don't know why Teddy doesn't just walk over to the scorer's table and give Chism two fouls before the game even tips off...

Steve Pearl looks really uncomfortable on the floor. It's like he doesn't know where to be on offense half the time, and then he gets flustered about it, especially when the Vols are bringing the ball down the floor while being pressed. I like him better on defense in man to man. I like the effort and the heart he shows. He's in a tough spot playing for his dad, but I think he either needs more practice with the offense or less playing time. Not that it matters what I think...

Hat if you had a AP poll vote where would you have this team ranked right now?
If I were voting on year to date accomplishment, around 10th. If I were voting on how good I actually think they are, 20-25.

That is one of the problems with polls. Lots of people get disgruntled about them because one person sees them based on the team's resume and others see them based on 'how good' is each team right now. Maybe we need two separate polls, one for resumes and one for current team strength. Can be a pretty big difference sometimes. I think 10 & 20-25 are pretty accurate.

I think that he's looked more comfortable the past couple of games.

Of course him trying to break the press is something that gives me nightmares.

I love Wayne Chism. He's talented and he always looks like he's having the most fun he's ever had. While some people confuse this for his not trying and I can understand how this doesn't work for everyone, but it fits Wayne. However, at some point Wayne being Wayne has to be tempered because these stupid fouls are killing us. Until Scotty decides to consistently be aggressive, Chism is the only go-to source of offense we have. Tic-tac fouls gotta go.

I think with Cam and Goins back in the fold, we have the potential to be a Top 10 team. Getting Steven Pearl back on the bench is a must, and then having Cam to rest JP or Hopson gives us good quality depth.

Agreed, but he seemed to crowd our ball handler last night. Maybe it was just the press that was throwing him off. Regardless, I think he stepped up his play through the short-handed period, and it suggests that he could continue to improve somewhat with additional experience. That said, he is not going to get much more athletic.

I had a small wager on the game last night, and when I saw Side Show Teddy with a whistle waiting to give his "football first down" impression on a Chism foul I nearly crapped my pants. UT pulled out the win/cover despite Teddy's best efforts.

I've never really understood the need for an in season poll in a sport that has a tournament.

So people can argue about how their inferior conference is awesome because they have 2 top 10 teams.

Agreed. It's not like UT got any hardware as a result of being ranked #1 for 24 hours 2 years ago.

1. Any win in Tuscaloosa is great win. 47 feet at a time suits this team.
2. It's time to thank Renaldo Woolridge for his play while the team was shorthanded, then cut his minutes. He's back to the same old, same old.
3. Kenny Hall gets it. He's not strong enough to bang yet, so he runs the opposing bigs ragged.
4. Scotty Hopson was the difference. He's becoming more aggressive, but I can't believe Alabama wasn't more physical with him.
5. Wayne Chism has to stop benching himself with silly fouls early. Tonight's game wouldn't have been competitive if he had been available for most of the first half.
6. The SEC West is pathetic. They're lucky they get to play each other.
7. Anyone who wonders why Mark Gottfried was fired only needs to look at the team on the floor tonight. That is an incredibly poorly constructed roster.
8. Bobby Maze doesn't need to be taking 11 shots. He's a facilitator, not a scorer.
9. Steve Pearl tries hard. Cam Tatum needs to take all of his minutes immediately.
10. Saturday will be another streetfight. Georgia will want a tempo similar to tonight's.

I fully agree. Tatum is not a four, but would be much better in the lineup than Pearl. He tries and plays hard, just isn't capable of playing at this level. I worry about the Georgia game. They are playing as well as anyone now, despite their loses. They are going to upset someone, just hope it isn't us.

Georgia's post presence will give us some problems (like last year), and if Chism has to sit for any lengthy time, I can definitely see us going down. They've got some good young bigs.
