I really don’t think I can do it anymore?! Guys, please don’t hold this against me, but I am about to give up on “college” football and basketball.
This doesn’t even make sense anymore.
I’m done.
If I am able to watch Tennessee football or basketball, I will, but I will no longer go out of my way or plan around it.

Feel free to do what you want, as always, but I think people are overreacting at the moment. We don't know how it's going to turn out yet. I know with football we have to set an amount that the collective will not pay more than. We've had to let go of prospects when they are trying to get us to go in on a bidding war. And in those case, people freak out for the opposite reason: "can't close." "Let x get away!" I know we let some people leave last year that we had recruited over and/or planned to "portal over." People went ballistic. And I notice Tony didn't try to outbid WF for Burns. Surely there was some astronomical number that he would have taken, even if he thought he wanted leave. But it would have hurt the team's ability to attract other players and retain present players.

I do hate the possible effect on the culture that Barnes, like Vitello and Heupel, has been so good about building and maintaining. But let's just see what happens. The lineup will end up being worse, equal, or better.

I feel the same way. Zakai will be admired for generations but these guys that are jumping ship will only be appreciated while they are here. Knecht showed everyone who he is as a person. Who apologizes for not being here for 4 years? Wasn’t his fault but man that tells me all I need to know about a guy to apologize for something he had no control over. It’s honestly quite sad what collegiate sports has become. Unless they get some structure on this thing it is going to spiral out of control and there will be no turning back.

Your last sentence says it all. The spiral has definitely started.

I don’t think it’s bashing players to say some of these guys are being short sighted IMO, trying to get it now when there’s another better payday post college career, and NBA career. The Manning the Wilson the Candace and I could go on. But, hey do what ya think is best.

@@1RBFjr I was having dinner with some LSU peeps tonight (part of a gathering) and they got off on the subject of the time in 1950 that four Tulane students stole LSU's mascot Mike the Tiger and painted him green. The young ones were aghast and I was truly lmfao.

I'm flattered, but I have to disappoint you: I'm not Rick Barnes. Who, btw, is working his a-- off. I have confidence in Barnes, and there is nothing I can do to change the outcome by hysterics. I was talking about fans not needlessly freaking out. It's same way that I don't feel like I profit from fans freaking out when he have a bad inning. Or lose a game. Or about NIL.

I don't trust the NCAA, the Birmingham office, the TV networks, or the bribe eaters in Washington, or anyone else imaginable, to justly enforce all these new "rules" that people seem to me to have been duped into asking for by the crooked. Where is the just organization that won't permit their favorites to cheat with impunity while deliberately and with great bias and injustice abusing the rivals of their favorites -- as they have always done.

I think the we-need-rules-and-limits camp owes us an explanation of who is going to enforce the rules and why in the world we should trust them. All the money that was formerly under the table is out in the open. I don't mind that.

I do notice that our big three sports here are absolutely thriving in this new environment. And I'm glad.

Of course, you may feel differently, but that's my take.

I am for it because I think it is helping us to win and to get out from under the NCAA double-standards. It is doing that by transforming the landscape, admittedly. And you don't like the transformation of the landscape, which I don't even attempt to deny. That's a reasonable divergence of grounded opinions imo. I really don't think anyone had ever presented the view I ascribe to in this forum. I thought you might consider it at least interesting. I wasn't meaning to call you out in the least.

Now I do remember insisting to @Volstylexx rather emphatically that he stop tearing down Kim Caldwell, since she's a new coach here. But primarily because he was operating in, how shall I say, an extremely unstable and flammable environment in that forum. He was about to provoke them into something like the meltdown Kentucky is presently experiencing. In fact, en masse they took every thing that Volstylexx and a few others had said, compiled them into a list, and then proclaimed in a completely irrational fashion that Danny White personally had PROMISED to THEM the entire list.

I really think we should get behind CKC. Let her do her thing and see what she can do. And @Volstylexx will agree that we definitely needed a fresh start. So I judge his claim to be very fair too. I really wanted him to stop. I didn't want to say over there because it would cause a gigantic eruption, so I trotted over here and posted it. Out of harm's way, as it were. I guess I did sorta call Volstylxx out. My bad.

Recruiting Forum is a good group of guys and gals. Of course like everywhere you go in life there's always someone who has caught a bigger Trout and know more.
