I would have been more careful with Riley, but maybe he was begging to play. He was obviously cleared to play, but some players need to be protected from themselves because their competitive spirit will go beyond what their bodies can handle. As a fan, its difficult to tell what goes on with something hurting versus being injured.
I don’t care what the player requests. If it was bad enough for you to complain about it in batting practice then it’s bad enough for you to not play today, or maybe even a few days. I’ve seen too many guys get those oblique injuries and the best thing to do in those situations is to not play and work on stretching until the tightness issue is corrected. You know what happens whenever you try to make explosive movements (like swinging a bat) with a tight oblique muscle? They tear or they strain and then you are looking at being out for 4-8 weeks minimum instead of taking a week off to get right. Typically, whatever side you bat from, the oblique that is pitcher-side will have more stress on it. A right handed batter will tend to have left oblique issues (which is what Riley has) and vice versa. Coaching malpractice imo.

Whoa there hoss! 🤣🤣🤣
U Mad? 😡
Yeah I’ve wanted him fired ever since that debacle vs Cardinals in the 2019 playoffs and even more so after blowing that 3-1 lead vs the Dodgers. We consistently have the most talented roster outside of the Dodgers. That World Series run was because of Alex Anthopoulos and his trade deadline deals. Not because of Brian Snitker. Outside of making the NLCS in 2020 and winning the World Series the following year we have been put out in the first round 4 out of 6 years. He doesn’t deserve this roster and it’s beyond frustrating.

@VolPack22

The Villanova Knicks sucked today as Indiana blew them out of the gym.
I predicted that would happen after Indiana submitted tape from Games 1 and 2 with 70+ calls that were either wrong or missed. Any time a team does that and tells everyone publicly that they did it, expect the league to handle it.

Thought I had this beisbol thing figgered out, the interaction between front office, GM, manager/staff, roster construction, etc. when the Astros recipe came together in 2017. Then 2019 happened.

I questioned “Was it real?”

They signed Dusty and kept chugging. I found not resigning James Click totally objectionable. Then Dusty retired and Espada was named to manage.

Those windows are fragile. Be careful that for which you wish.

Hope for Braves sake, Austin Riley doesn't have a muscle strain. Believe Sean Murphy has been out with one for weeks.
Yeah he got injured opening day and has been out ever since. He just started hitting in the cage within the past few days and will need some games in the minors to ramp up. That’s why the decision to play Riley was stupid. Murphy has been out with a left oblique strain for over 6 weeks now. If Riley ends up straining his oblique he wouldn’t be back until the All-Star break. Do you really want to be without one of your best players for 2 months and 50-60 games, especially at a position we are not deep at? Snitker is an idiot. I guess the only good news is it will force him to push Ozuna up in the lineup to give him more at bats, since you know he is the only hitting this year. Makes a ton of sense to keep batting the NL home run leader and the MLB RBI leader 5th whenever he is the only one in the lineup producing. Another piss poor job of managing on Snitker’s part.
