It’s because they made the format so stupid that there are like 20 games this weekend that will impact the CFP rankings. We live in a world where the 11th or 12th ranked team is going to end up with the 4 seed and a first round bye, and the 16th or 17th ranked team is going to get a gift right into the dance, leap frogging 4 teams ahead of them. What other sport does that? I mean it’s good for us since the field is going to be diluted with mediocre teams but who wants to watch Ohio State/Oregon massacre Arizona State by three touchdowns?

The talking heads will spin it that the new format has created more excitement across the board. Everyone is talking about it. More importantly to the ones that talk for a living, they have something to talk about and get clicks.

That’s all fine and dandy but I don’t see how the SEC signs off on an extension for this, especially if South Carolina wins this week and there are three 9-3 teams lined up right outside the top 12 but none of them get in because we have to give everyone a participation trophy. The SEC only cares about money and them having one or two less teams because of the format is costing them money.
