We don’t deserve this man. My favorite coach that has ever stepped on campus in any sport. There has always just been something about him that gives you confidence he can win every game. We obviously aren’t going to win every game but he gives people a certain level of belief that makes you feel like anything is possible.
Same. He will likely surpass Pat Summitt as the most legendary modern day coach IMHO if he stays another 20 years.

I don’t think Pat’s status will ever be supplanted. She literally put her sport on the map and is revered throughout the entire basketball community. She could have commanded the respect of a NBA locker room. She was just that good. Although Tony is my favorite, baseball is my favorite sport so I am a little biased, I will always give Pat her flowers because whenever you think of Tennessee she is always one of the first names mentioned. It’s usually either Peyton or Pat.

How did we get so lucky? He could have gone to any of the elite blue blood programs but chose to stay.
We are fortunate to have Coach Vitello. Here’s why he stayed:
1) He’s fiercely loyal
2) He wants to build a dynasty—not inherit one.
3) UT not only took care of him, but also took great care of his assistants financially.
4) UT made a huge commitment to invest in the facilities, and gave him input on the plans.
5) He loves the fan support and environment at LNS.
6) He loves Knoxville and the community.

Well said. She could have been the CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

That was probably one of the wildest Super Bowls ever and that would have been a drive for the ages. Ball back at your own 12 yard line under 2 minutes. That’s stuff you dream about as a kid. McNair put that team on his back after being down 16-0. He just didn’t have enough time in the end.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

Pulling up my driveway, seeing my wife and my neighbor/friend talking…..

Let me set the picture.

Our daughter was 6 and it was July. I flew with her down to Florida from Ohio so she could spend a few weeks with her grandparents.

I flew back the following day, stopped and picked up some flowers for my wife.

As I pulled up my stomach sank, I could just tell from their body language.

Picture me walking up carrying a dozen roses feeling like a fool and that my world had ended.

They saw me and the two of them tried to play it off. He greeted me and asked if I wanted to play some tennis later and he walked back next door.

My wife and I went inside and I asked her immediately and she confirmed everything.

My main regret is that I didn’t turn around and leave. I also regret not sharing what had happened with my friends and family for support.

I felt humiliated, lost and alone and blamed myself.

Spent the next 10 years unsuccessfully trying to salvage my marriage.

So yeah, seeing that video and the comments brought back memories.

Women Suck!
@MAD, I was pretty much joking and thought you were also! I’m so sorry, no one deserves to be treated that way. People can be just awful. If it’s any consolation, I am my husband’s 3rd wife. We have been together 25 years, longer than his other wifes’ combined. He is my best friend and I don’t know what I would do without him, we have way too much fun together. I am truly a blessed individual.

Sometimes on this forum, real life sneaks in, it’s more than just baseball. Several of you that are widowers, I can’t imagine. Much appreciation to you all, for letting me be a part of this Vol loving, baseball loving, a little dysfunctional, with way too many bewbiez references, but I can roll my eyes, group!

Yep, to be clear, I’d never have any reservations flying, including those places. I’d add that there are so many aspects that are automated and safeguards these days. It’s also nice to not have to connect. Flying out of Knoxville means you have to connect most everywhere (or maybe pay crazy prices). But, the short lines at TYS are nice though.
I fly out of Reagan all the time and guess I somewhat take it for granted. I flew out the same week of the 1982 crash during the snow and was also on one of the first flights out after 9/11. There is a great park by DCA called Gravelly Point. You can watch the flights coming down and banking thru the Potomac. You can stand there and feel like the plane is going to land on top of you. My husband is a recreational pilot and we used to fly up before 9/11 to the see the sights at night. This crash is horrible and will come back on the helicopter positioning. Why their position was off, will be the question. Such an awful situation, my heart breaks for those families.

I once invited a seminar speaker from Georgia Tech and he decided to fly from ATL to Knoxville, I was shocked, it’s a 3 hour drive! Some people won’t consider driving anywhere.
The flight from Denver to Cheyenne is shorter than the time it takes to taxi out to the runway. I thought the plane was getting on the interstate!

I used to go to Gravelly Point when I lived there. Your first time flying into National from the north is pretty wild when the plane is banking so low.
