Thank you.

I really like flying and I know that part of the reason is that my home airport is Atlanta, so I'm never trying transfer planes and have to navigate such a large airport.

I never felt like anything on a commercial flight was unsafe and know that commercial pilots have to be in shape, train in simulators, are experts when it comes to their knowledge of the aircraft they fly and are drug tested as well as have their mental evaluated consistently. Because of all that, I feel more safe on a plane than driving in general because my fellow drivers aren't under much scrutiny.

Yep, to be clear, I’d never have any reservations flying, including those places. I’d add that there are so many aspects that are automated and safeguards these days. It’s also nice to not have to connect. Flying out of Knoxville means you have to connect most everywhere (or maybe pay crazy prices). But, the short lines at TYS are nice though.

You nailed it with direct flights. Delta Direct flights is what we always do and I think that's because my dad only flies Delta and flies quite a bit and we get flights; even though we rarely go anywhere on vacation because he so sick of flying and hotel rooms.

Short lines: You aren't kidding. I flew to Syracuse and was a little anxious over finding my departure gate to go home. It's a small airport with not that many gates and there was only one gate with any activity and it was my gate. I remember thinking how nice that was and awful or intimidating Atlanta must be for a lot of people because there are so many gates.

On our Asia trip American Airlines totally screwed us and we had to salvage it with Delta. I have to say I was pretty impressed with Delta, way better than American on our flights (ATL -> Seattle and Seattle -> Seoul).

All I know is that if I can drive somewhere without the use of the plane, I’m taking the car 100% of the time. No need to put my life in the fate of a drunk pilot or stressed out air traffic controller whenever I can get there myself.

I once invited a seminar speaker from Georgia Tech and he decided to fly from ATL to Knoxville, I was shocked, it’s a 3 hour drive! Some people won’t consider driving anywhere.

I once flew from Memphis to Nashville for a wedding I was in. There had been an ice storm so it was the best bet.
