True cal doesn't play a deep bench, but outside of his 5 is all question marks...

The 3 off the bench are probably Wiltjer, hood, and beckham.

I'm sorry but I'd take Rosario, yeguette, and poythress over those 3.

UK's starting 5 will be elite as usual, but last year you bring in miller, Wiltjer, vargas now it's Wiltjer, hood, beckham. Not that Vargas was great, but IMO miller was elite and experience was huge, who out of those 3 can replace miller, I see nobody.

And if the Jordan game is any sign, Noel will get in foul trouble much more often than Davis did which was hardly ever. UK needs atleast 1 of Bennett & Jefferson.

Again, I'll put my money on Calipari. The man put Liggins AND Freaking Jorts in the League! He will figure it out, he always has.

Also your comparisons to this years UK team are unfair. That team was a once in a decade thing. I am just comparing UK talent to Florida talent and I think UK has more.

True. I just don't think that they'll be anywhere close to what they were this year, so their lack of depth will be exposed a bit more. Their 2011 class was superior to this class in every way, and they're also lacking the "upperclassman" leadership of Miller, Lamb, and Jones. They'll be taking a step back, although not a large one.

IF Florida lands Bennett (emphasis on IF) I think their talent matches up pretty well with Kentucky's. You can't completely rely on star rankings, can you? I mean, how was Wiltjer a 5* and Murphy was a 4*? What makes Wiltjer any better than Murphy?

I am not completely relying on star rankings but who was Calipari's last 5 star bust?

Daniel Orton. I don't care how highly-drafted he was; he was a bust.

Bingo.

And he was a 4* but Poole as well.

Also, hood is on his way to being a bust. I don't care who was infront of you If you were a 4* and can't see the court in 4 years you didn't pan out as expected.

So you could actually say this is caliparis first class at UK that didn't have a bust.

Eloy Vargas as well (although he could be considered a bust for both Donovan and Calipari).

Pretty sure I said 5 star.

Also pretty sure Orton was signed with UK when Calipari was hired.

Calipari told him he wanted him to stay, he could've told him to bounce like he did with some of the others.

And what's the whole point of has he had any 5* busts? His 6,7,8 guys aren 5* on this team, they're 4* and 2*.

To far back to explain all my posts. If you really are interested you can read back through them.

As for Orton, people don't run off 5 stars. The people Calipari ran off were definately not. They were the guys that got tubby and Billy G fired.

bleedingTNoragne, are you more a basketball guy than a football guy?

I'll just say that it's easier for anyone who follows basketball closely to become a "basketball guy" on VN than a "football guy," because of the difference in volume between the two forums. On the BB forum, someone who regularly posts relevant recruiting info will easily stand out in the crowd.

Yeah that's probably true, the reason I ask is because he has a relatively in-depth knowledge of other school's recruiting classes...more than most casual fans I imagine. I stay around the ncaa mostly so I'm not sure what he posts in other places but he seems pretty well informed and makes VN more enjoyable in my opinion.

you seem to know your stuff is all - props to a true UT basketball fan

Appreciate it, thanks.

I was more into baseball as far as playing growing up, but college basketball always stole my heart. I played but not at the level i did baseball so its kind of odd I became so infatuated with basketball. I think it's the emotional level that the game is played with that really got my interest.

I love all sports, playing or watching, but there's just something about college basketball that has always drawn my interest. I'm border line obsessed with CBB, and now it's the off season I follow recruiting and AAU to fill in before next season starts haha.

Yeah, I’m with you – baseball was always the most fun to play. I even enjoyed baseball practice (can’t say the same for football). I love the Titans and Preds but I will always be more of a college fan than a fan of my pro teams.
