How do they appear "more beatable" when they lost 2 games, one being in the playoffs to the evetual NC, and they still won the SEC?
They definitely appeared to be "more beatable" this season than any other in recent memory. Bama very easily could've gone 8-4 this past season. IMO they were lucky to be in the game versus the Barners. Shades of the 2000 game versus the Gators, kicking field goals.
Next season should be very interesting with all of the big time talent that they have to replace.
They will replace 4/5* players with other 4/5* players. Alabama will win 10+ and the west in 2015. Saban is a great coach who knows how to develop talent.
OT with a mediocre LSU team, almost beat by Arkansas, squeezed by State @ home... That's how they appear more beatable.

Wonder why Saban wanted them back?
They were available when other coaches left. I don't think Saban dislikes either one. I'm sure Steele would still be there if he hadn't gotten a promotion at LSU.
Something happened with Thompson, but I don't know what. Given his history, my money is on him taming some co-ed strange.
Didn't Steele tank at Clemson?
He had some kind of breakdown in that 70 point destruction against WVU. Started calling plays from his days at Bama and the Panthers.
He was also demoted from DC at Bama following the '07 season. He is a really good recruiter, but if I was an LSU fan, i'd be really nervous about him calling plays.
