The Endzone Garden Thread

For anyone here who has been growing veggies for a while: I keep seeing warnings about not planting beans and peppers (both hot and sweet) together, but they never say why. I don’t see why it would be a problem, other than potentially a problem of too much nitrogen from the beans, which can be addressed.

Have any of you had problems planting them in the same area?

We haven't done an in-ground garden over at mom and dad's in a few years.
Dad would know if it's in-ground.
I'll ask him.
I know old timers used to say not to overfertilize bell peppers, and the ones that do the best in the containers that I grow around the house here do better if I just use old potting mix with just a scoop of fertilizer.
I am going to have to get busy on some stuff around here. I am far behind last year.

When I was young we grew hot peppers a couple of years. They made both the bells and bananas hot. Never heard the beans and peppers issue.

Nope, not to you. I might trap joe though. I'm just having 5 acres of delusions of grandeur.
Well, in that case, I still have no idea. Coffee seems to be grown in areas much closer to the Equator, but at altitude. There may be a requirement for hours of light or something?

Exie, do you think coffee could be grown in a greenhouse?
So, I still haven’t figured out the joke that @GordonC caught, but I just came across this on my other forum:

Does anyone have a coffee, macadamia nut, or avocado farm? - Bogleheads.org

The interesting takeaway (to me) is that you need 15 coffee plants to supply a year’s worth of 2 cups of coffee a day, and that’s the bogus 6-oz “cups” that are somehow used to measure coffee, as if we all drank out of demitasse cups. Since I drink from a mug, 12 oz at a time, 2 of MY cups (mugs) a day, that’s 30 fully-producing plants just to keep ME mildly coherent each day.

Two films showing the misadventures of coffee growing, both based on published biographies:

The Flame Trees of Thika
Out of Africa (film)

Hey, it wasn't a joke I caught at all. I will explain.

Literally just the other day (Thursday or Friday of last week), I decided to give my students some questions over this passage (screensnips):

So one of the students had just asked me if it was possible to grow coffee in a greenhouse around here because coffee was so expensive at the store.
Then 8283 posted that up.
The timing was crazy.
Given our curiosity about trying to grow stuff, I figured one of us would try it.
HA
That's all it was.

Wow!! @theFallGuy needs to read this!

The DEA will declare your coffee plants to be marijuana, rip them out, and haul you cuffed into an interrogation room.
