The Endzone Garden Thread

Absolutely.

I’m glad you understand the priorities here.

(Seriously, toting a full 8-gallon water bath canner is absolutely A Thing.)
I don’t think you truly appreciate what I’m dealing with here.

No, lol, I let that go. The possible rewards did not balance out the real costs and potential oopsies. I have a small secondary sink immediately to the right (=3”) of the range with a pull-out faucet. The coffee-maker sits to the right of the sink (meaning further away from the range), so the coffee part is under control, and the big-ass pasta pots are dealt with via the pull-out faucet.

I would post a pic, but some a-hole (looking at you, @theFallGuy* ) would criticize my lack of perfection in counter-scrubbing, but maybe if I can shine up erething before Other Person Living Here can make his mark, I will do so. Maybe.

* and @Souce as well, except you’re daid, so who cares

ETA: Other Person Living Here is heating up BBQ sauce, so I ain’t going anywhere near that.

You obviously haven't scrutinized the top of Slice's coffee maker....just sayin'

Cheese drawer over an ice maker that'll work after 12 month warranty. The wife has her priorities.
The new Samsung ice makers don’t have the problem of the old ones plus we got a water pitcher built into the door.
This fridge is legitimately badass

This fridgidaire she picked out is super nice. It's a full 28 cu ft french door. the two top shelves have retractable section if you need to put in a few tall items. We opted against the middle pull out drawer, so it's inside and has adjustable temp. Has a second ice make tucked up out of the way in the bottom freezer if you need it. When not using it, the ice tray just serves as a freezer shelf. The best storage layout of all but one fridge we kooked at (the one I picked out of course but it was side by side).

The oven has regular baking, true convection, and air fryer built in. Which is basically true convection in steroid mode. That's what counter top air fryer are anyway.

Nice. Does that fridge make the fancy ice?

I miss our French door fridge. Didn’t have enough space in the current house.

WELL, I have a habit of hitting the stove top control with an appliance when sliding it out of the way. Melted out the bottom of our air fryer that way. THEN, I did the same to my Instant Pot. But, the damage was only to hte base this time as all the wiring was unharmed. So, Amazon or Ebay, and a few days shipping and she was back in service. Having an air fryer built in to the oven will eliminate ruining atleast one appliance.

Speaking of gardens, there used to be one to three “garden spiders” around my property this time of year, and the ugly orange-brown orb weavers with their six foot webs would start showing up, making the trip to the mailbox interesting. Now, there’s no sign of either, just a multitude of Joro spiders.

@82_VOL_83 you live in Western KY?? Didn't you want some seed from my community bean crop?

I don't know what to call it other than Cummins Falls Green Beans. Other names around the house are community beans, mountain bean, and grandma jennie beans. These are the best green beans on the face of the earth (but Allen's Kentuck Wonder and Greasy Grits Bean would be close behind). Also, I highly reccommend a bean booster. Burpee or other brand. I got mine at TSC when they put the seeds out in Spring. It's usally near the bean packets. My best crop ever this year after using it. a 3oz packet will do a 40' row. Just sprinkle it in the furrow as you plant the seed. I did tall pole and 1" hole plastic mesh fence. My brother does arched trellis' with hog panels. My dad always did the 3 pole teepees. Just give plenty of height to grow and make sure your soil is right and you use this when planting. They will go crazy. I prob did 40-45 feet total in 2 rows. Got about 28 pints and 4 quarts out it, and my soil was a little lacking. My brothers trellis's are about 15ish feet. He plants both sides in raised beds. Last year he canned over 60 pints off that. plant in warm soil. They will start producing maybe 1st of August range thru sept/mid oct. And they are touch. Last year and this year both, japanese beetles stripped both rows leaves from the knees to shoulders. Didn't bother them a bit. Eventually put out new leaves, and what wasn't stripped kept blooming and growing beans. AS with any pole bean, the lower leaves will turn yellow at some point as the energy goes to the new growth and prodction. So don't freak out over that. And keep watered. If not raining, you want defintiely one solid soaking a week.
