I'm surprised there was no mention of our free-throw ineptitude. Tonight was a tough loss...I'm afraid we will remember this one well come tourney selection time.

It's really hard right now to watch the Pitt-Nova game, knowing that we have beaten both, but can't get it done in the mediocre SEC.

It's bad doc. All these close losses remind me of the year Buzz Peterson lost every close game the entire season (or so it seemed). Lack of execution is bad enough, but at this point you have to consider that it's becoming a mental obstacle as well.

Bone should start at point guard or at least get 10 minutes per game there, Maymon should get more minutes; Goins goins GONE

I'm as big a critic of his as there is on this board, but I find no errors in hat's analysis of this game. We had the opportunity to solidify an ncaa berth and completely melted it away.

This team is a trainwreck. I'm going to watch every game from here on out expecting to see Tennessee lose.

When Fields, McBee, Pearl Jr. and Golden are on the floor simultaneously (or any 3 of those 4), we may have the worst offense in Division I.

not claiming to be more basketball savvy that our coaches but i would:

bench McBee.
Get Maymon more time.
Get Bone A LOT more minutes as well as time at the point.
Cut Tatum's minutes BIG TIME until he stops turning the ball over and finds some offense.

Cam Tatum has almost completely morphed into John Winchester.

I would have no problem with the last second failures if the players were actually put in a position to win. But, without exception, every single time we've been in a last second situation, we've got an absolutely pathetic look. That goes 100% on the coaches.

Our end-of-game idiocy just earned us a spot on Doug Gottlieb's "You Gott To Be Kidding Me" segment.

I agree that this is on the coaches, especially since it is a recurring issue.

It's unfathomable to me that Tennessee keeps settling for 3-pointers in these situations. I would much prefer to see a drive to the basket, even if the end result is the same.

I agree that it's on the coaches, but not all of it. The game where Tobias shot a 40 footer (I think it was USC), he drew a double team, and Hopson or Tatum was wide open on the wing. These players seem to panic if the primary option is taken away. All coaches tell players secondary options to the play they draw up. I agree that a lot of it is on the coaches, but I'm beginning to wonder if this is just a mental block with the players in late game situations and all the failures they had at the beginning of the season. With how Melvin and Trae are playing, I wouldn't mind seeing Bone just assume PG role. He's not a true PG, but he's at least a better defender and makes better decision. It's not like our PGs are creating anything much for the offense anyways.

One other thing I love the decision to go with no timeout at the beginning of the play. It doesn't let Florida set up their D, which means Scotty isn't going to get the attention that he would if we had called a TO. This means that more than likely he will be able to drive on an injured Parsons. However, none of it happened. And I agree that you have to call a TO at that point to at least get the ball out of Melvin "I think I'm going to be a hero even though I'm a zero" Goins' hands.

I'm not trying to hype Bone up to be an all-star, but can someone tell me how many turnovers he has in his career for Tennessee? Of course he doesn't drive, dribble, or handle the ball a whole lot, but every team needs a Josh Bone. He plays good on-ball defense, doesn't turn the ball over, and has now added in an extra dimension of knocking down open jumpers. He's not going to create for others or take people off the dribble, but I'd like to see him get some more minutes.

Compared to Goins and Golden right now he is an all-star. We have got to get Bone in as PG for several minutes. Tonight he had two assists and no turnovers. He has good handles and a decent drive.

Hopson should have driven on an injured Parsons literally every single time there was a half court set until Parsons fouled out or UF got somebody else on him. Yet he didn't. Why would you expect UT to figure something out in the last possession that they didn't the entire game?

Didn't Pearl say he was clamoring for that from the sideline, yet the players didn't execute?

Of course he said that. It's not like he recruited the players or coached them beforehand. Pearl was just a spectator like you or me. Fscking players, screwing everything up. Just like Coach K and Tom Izzo always say.

Yeah I know it can be taken with a grain of salt, has anyone watched the last possession again, how hard were Hopson and Tatum trying to get the rock in their hands? Did Goins have a lefit opportunity to get it to one of them?

This season, Bone has six turnovers. He also has 11 assists.

Last season, he had five assists and two turnovers.
