I respectfully request that you let us know when it is published so I can obtain a copy.
She worked a number of years for the News Sentinel, too. She's bona fide.
When she talks about other programs not doing things the right way, it's probably not just Geno she's referring to, sadly. But the Con fans had better hold onto their butts, cause Maria has a book coming out!
I was told by a fellow fan that this article was posted on the Boneyard and the comments they spewed about Pat were despicable! I'm sensing that there will forever be bad blood between UCONN and Tenn....one poster called Summit a b**ch! Smh
Looked just now.... I can not find the b**ch comment mentioned here......
Can you please reference it if you find it.....sounds like a racy comment!
Child you can review ALL my post on here, not ONCE have I "trolled" ....and then to "continue the bad blood"....I don't think so. NO ONE on the Boneyard or VolNation says anything BRUTUL enough for me to even think about "trolling"! I leave that to the NegaVols!!!! Sorry but trolling just isnt in LadyVol1908's blood.Only on the internet can you find things like this. Blatantly untrue and more than easy to verify. I went to your boney yard to find this "quote". I read every post under the thread you referenced. I may be old but these eyes couldn't find ANYTHING expressing the vitriol you claim.
The whole tenor of the thread, as other posters have already mentioned, is the negativity directed against the writer (Maria).
This is just a trollish post on your part to ensure that the 'bad blood' continues ad nauseum.
The point of the piece seems to be that PS had more integrity that most other coaches in the game. That's simply not true. The vast majority of the coaches have integrity. Who might not have integrity, in Cornelius's view? Well, now we know one reason for this little piece. She is not objective when it comes to the Vols--she's works for the basketball program, effectively. She is not going to be critical of the coaching, for one thing. As for this past year's team, we certainly had final four potential--not championship potential, but certainly final four potential. We had three players drafted; how many Maryland players were drafted? We were PLENTY good enough to beat Maryland, had we played a halfway decent game. Sorry to be crass, but if you crap the bed in big situations, as Warlick's teams tend to do, it doesn't matter how much talent you have.
I went and looked and saw the comment for myself after I was told....I seen it however when I went back to try and reference it, it was gone....the comment was there, take my word for it or not....it was there.
Oh, I do not disbelieve you. Thank you so much for checking...... obviously this subject brings out a lot of built up emotion!!!
No problem, once it was said I had to check for myself.....that's a very touchy touchy situation, Pat and Geno. The old school fans are more so still caught up with the "bad blood" aspect of it however. I say let it go....Pats retired and Geno won't be at the top forever.....we as a fan base are still holding on to our 8 National Championships that Pat won us....until we beat the present day UCONN their fans will still think that they're above everyone else.
The problem here is that, in fact, Cornelius is trolling Geno. It is essentially a little opinion piece on integrity and PS, written by a Vol basketball employee (essentially) just after UConn wins another national title, and is quite clearly a thinly veiled dig at Geno. Read between the lines: It is a silly little sour grapes piece that parrots the Tennessee women's basketball narrative over the last three years: Geno may have won more titles than PS, but he doesn't have her integrity. That's been the line from UT diehards, and it is a line that is pretty pointless now. We're not good enough to get back to the Final Four or win another title, so our fallback is to gripe about Geno. He is not mentioned in the column, but he of course is the subtext. Time for a new narrative.
Uconn is a crap school with a crap campus in a crap, nowhere town. They have to feel good about something.
No matter what the boneyard thinks or says, without Pat, there would be no UCONN or a rise in WCBB as we see today.
