I think the 3 best GOGH driver are in the 2nd duel. I'm excited for the entire week from Wednesday till Sunday.

I think number two has the most potential for an epic battle and finish based on who is in it. Since they went to the current formula the duels are not anywhere as exciting as they were when all but the front row was set by them.

The first race has more star power but the 2nd will prob be more exiciting because the gogh drivers will know where they need to finish and do what they can to get there or to hold onto it.

I hope so. It looked fun. Watching 2 cars hook up and get that much of a run was great. I just don't think I want to watch 150 miles of it, much less 500. I would rather watch a driver work the draft to get himself to the front. Besides, 43 cars leaves 1 guy without a dancing partner.:)

I think this may be an acceptable compromise. I absolutely did not like what we saw during the Shootout but if they could limit them to doing it for a couple of laps at a time it would make things much better IMO. At least then you would have to have more strategy, work the draft, and put yourself into position. Then, when its go time you can still hook together with another car and make a move.

Best place to put this, i guess....Dan LeBetard...

"Is this the Great American Race, or professional wrestling?" re: Dale Junior.

What kind of changes did they make? I liked the racing myself. They weren't jumbled up in a 40 car train wreck waiting to happen all day. I guess some just want to see a big pile of cars at the end.

I think just about every restrictor plate race ended in caution or green white checker last year. I'd like to see them race for the win longer than two laps. They can't even get up to speed good in two laps.

Cartervol speaks truth.

I caught it in passing, didn't look back into it, but something with the radiator where they won't be able to line up and hammer it for too long without getting too hot...

Typical NASCAR fix, trying something new instead of just altering the restrictor plates or what have you. Just seems like a stupid time to "try this and see what happens" if you ask me.

According to Larry McReynolds, they are putting the cars back the way they were last year.

I could have sworn I read something about changes in coolant pressure on NASCAR.com. Eh, as long as it works.

This is what I thought. The Sirius Radio guys were saying the changes would prevent the hookup from happening for more than around 3 laps.

This was copied off of foxsports.com. It goes on to say that depending on how pratice goes today, there could be a small adjustment to the restrictor plate.
"NASCAR distributed a rules bulletin to teams on Sunday with changes to the front grille and pressure relief valve that regulates the pressure of the water temperature in the cars."

Nascar needs to keep their noses out of changing the restrictor plates in the middle of the biggest race of the year.(Weekend) They keep running fans off by reducing the speeds and keeping all the cars together. Take the freaking restrictor plates off and let the big boys go at it. Nascar is just covering for the terrible tires that goodsucks gives them.

Well, they need the plates or someone is going to go airborne, which would be a bad thing. I would prefer they change the plates as opposed to tooling with the radiator where they really aren't sure how it's going to work...

I'm trying to connect cars lifting off the ground with the tires and failing miserably, could you illuminate me? I'm willing to bet you could send the cars out at 195 mph, pull them in, put back out at 205 mph, and very few spectators would notice the difference.

Yea Indianapolis two years ago, pheonix where everyone was blowing tires. Cars come off the ground at 200, so why not just take the restrictor plates off. Maybe you would like to see them going 160 mph, i'm sure that would be really exciting.

A lot of the accidents you see are caused by all the cars running a foot away from each other for to long. Mental is where the body wears down in a race like that, not the physical ability. That is why you see a bunch of the big wrecks happening in the last 20 laps. Why do you guys think that the drivers except for (jr, waltrip) hate the restrictor plate races?

Do you realize that Goodyear use different tire compounds for different tracks? Also, Nascar regulates that so Goodyear sometimes gets undeserved blame for tire failure. Tires failing at Indy have nothing to do with Daytona and I guarantee you can't tell the difference in cars running 185 or 205 if all the cars are running near the same speed.

What if I have a watch?
