1. I'm not sure what to say other than that was pitiful. You just can't have. Does the zone offense suck? Yes. But when the players passive, nothing is going to happen. They showed no confidence on offense.

2. To fix this, push the pace. Any time UT pushed the pace something good happened. If you can't properly develop a zone offense, then push the pace any time you get a chance.

3. I don't know what McBee was doing shooting that 3 with six seconds to go. That's just awful. That wasn't the play developed and he had no chance to get anything. And I don't blame Jordan McRae for taking that three at the end.

4. Bernard King Player of the Game: Trae Golden. Too many turnovers, yes, but he rebounded well and was the only one willing to take the ball to the basket. Defense was very good too.

5. Rebounding was really good tonight I thought. Georgetown had 28 missed shots with only three offensive rebounds very well.

6. Also, great job defensively by Tennessee. They did really, really well defending the cuts. Georgetown didn't get any backdoor cuts for baskets and Georgetown had almost no low post points from the block.

7. If Tennessee goes 5-11 from the line, they win. Free throws killed them. That's just inexcusable. That's why free throws are so important.

8. I will give some credit to Georgetown for their defense. That zone was really good. Also, when you have five or six 6'8 guys you are playing with, you have so much length that you make it really tough to get into the lane.

9. Again, more turnovers than assists. Not going to beat top 25 teams with that.

10. Georgetown is a good team, but it's just so frustrating to see a game like that where very simple things would have won it for you. When you play so well on one side of the ball, but then suck it up so bad on the other end, and it costs you a game, people are going to be mad. Right now, UT has to find somebody willing to take the ball inside the paint and push the pace to create more opportunities. You got a chance against Virginia to get a good OOC win. Take advantage of it.

Stokes played his worst game but he did rebound. Hopefully it will be his last.

The worst offensive game management over the final 6 possessions I may have ever seen. By memory, I think it was 4 straight TOs followed by a buzzer-beater shot by Stokes (which was awful), and the two desperation heaves by McBee abd McRae.

Awful game management. Get the freaking ball into the paint and draw a foul. We have struggled to do this two years running.

The defense was great, but that offense needs help. We are too passive and need to learn to feed the post.

That being said, it was just one game. Learn and move on.

I agree and I assumed/hoped zone offense was a point of emphasis in the off season but it doesn't look like it.

You sir are spot on. I can't say if it was the guards or CCM's fault, but I have to think it's CCM's, because he appeared perfectly content to let the guys take desperation heaves. PATHETIC !

According to the box score Stokes on took 3 shots the entire game, would it be wrong to assume that's an error?

We just don't have much offensive talent. Guys like Mcbee, Richardson, Hall, Edwards, and Chievous will never light up the scoreboard. Mcrae is streaky. Martin has to recruit better talent. Hubbs is a step in the right direction, but if Stokes leaves, we'll once again be hurting on talent next year. Losing Nichols was huge IMO.

The thing I miss most about Bruce Pearl is that we used to beat teams like OK State and G-town even when we were undermanned.

My take on this team:

1. No true PG to penetrate the zone. Seems we have been saying this for 30 years
2. Why did we not push the ball up the court vs. letting G town set up their zone defense? I truly am worried about CCM's game day coaching ability. I love the guy but don't see Xgrid adjustments made during games
3. Stokes is way overrated. Looks good against smaller and less talented teams. Hasn't shown much against the really good teams. Looks like a 4 year player to me.
4. No shooters. If you can't shoot, it's going to be difficult to beat the zone. Especially when you don't penetrate it.
5. Free Throw shooting lost the game. No excuse for a major college team to shoot 27% from the FT line. Shoot 45% and you win the game! Not rocket science
6 without Maymon, this team is an NIT second round loser once again. Not impressed at all so far this season

Tennesee football: potent offense, pathetic defense. Tennessee basketball: inconsistant offense, well rounded defense. I wish both teams could find a balance.

Lol 1 bad game offensively and everyone is ready to pack it in. It's freaking November. Noone will care about this loss if we do well in the SEC and make a run in the tournament.

I don't think Stokes is going anywhere. Not after this season. He has a long ways to go to be NBA ready. Chism was 10 times better and couldn't even make it.

Not it getting the ball in the paint wasn't for lack of trying.
Most of the turnovers came from forcing it in from bad angles.
Didn't matter any way, cause Stokes is playing like a freshman and putting it on the floor every time he touches it.

UT's offense was horrid but they still had multiple chances to win it and couldn't. If Maymon was playing, they win.

The good news is I doubt UT sees a team play zone defense as well as that for the rest of the year. The bad news is that if Maymon is out all year then they'll struggle offensively against any team that plays zone defense well.

If this team plays defense, they'll be in every game. They rebounded and played defense well enough to win. They were 3-11 from the FT line and had too many turnovers. They didn't seize the opportunity to win the game at the FT line when their offense was a no show.
