The Georgetown Postgame Report

unless Maymon gets healthy and gets on the floor the VOLS wont win 5 sec games because their offense sucks they have absolutely no outside shooters and no one who can drive to the bucket and score.i actually thought this team was better than last year but free throws and fg 5% ARE GOD AWFUL FOR THE YEAR.

We'll win our fair share of games because our defense is good and not many teams will play a zone as good as g-town.

Hey, maybe there's hope for you after all.

It would've been funny to see the reactions if McBee or McRae hits that last shot. Everybody would be happy because they won yet UT still hasn't figured out how to consistently have dribble penetration and get some consistency on the wing.

UT's D and rebounding will keep them in every game if they come to play. If they get Maymon back, they will be a tough out for anyone because Stokes is getting double teamed. Opposing teams won't have that luxury if Maymon comes back.

Stokes was the talk of the off season with his international experience. What's happened? Effort? Coaching?

Losing Maymon cost more than most realize.
He was the heart of the team but he was also Stokes' coach on the floor.
Without Maymon Stokes is just a lost pup.

Agree, CCM's on court coaching has been less than impressive. I am a huge supporter of his but would like to see better adjustments made during games. Thought we should have pushed the ball up court vs allowing G town to set up their zone defense every time down court

I realize looking at my post that I look like an arrogant prick. I'm pissed about the football stuff, but basketball is my first love and the game I know the most, and that prep, effort, coaching and performance tonight pisses me off. If I could, I'd have the whole staff and team running ladders and taking charges until they puke if I could.

They need to wake the **** up.

Anyone else see Kenny Hall come wide open down low for a second on the last in bounds....I paused my dvr and just let the pain sink in at the sight of it

Yall act like our zone offense was better last year. Teams will still play us man to man because coaches are stubborn. I still expect 20+ wins.

Pretty disappointing to see no improvement from last year against the zone. And it's not like they didn't know it was coming.

When was the last time Maymon practiced with this team? At some point that has to stop being the excuse.

They are as awake as they are going to get.

Im not even mad about this loss, G-Town has so much more talent on their roster. Martin is doing the best that he can with what he has. When you're missing your SEC preseason AA In Maymon, it's gonna hurt he's a guy that's gonna get you a double-double each night. It's gonna be tough but this loss is acceptable.

Sorry man. I disagree. I think he is holding his guys back right now, as in tonights game, and making them robotic, which in turn takes away speed and instinct.
I've had experience with that as a coach and a player. You can't tell me if we ran Indiana's offense of pressure and early penetration that we wouldn't be better.

Tonight's loss was about fundamentals - passing and free throw shooting; Vols couldn't do either. Just watched the replay and at one point the Vols had 4 straight possessions where they didn't get a shot off because the ball was stolen while trying to pass it to another player - pathetic.

Next practice should be only working on how to pass the ball in traffic or how to catch a bounce pass. Then CCM needs to make each player shoot 30 FTs and for each missed attempt, sprint the length of the courts, up and back!

they still haven't shown an improvement on feeding the post or dribble penetration and spacing in the first few games over last year.

That's a little disappointing coming out of the summer.

How is that an excuse. I've stated that without Maymon this is just a below average team.
Stokes is still playing like a freshman.

I was a BP fanatic but I absolutely love CCM. We just gotta give the man some time. He'll take us to places Pearl never took us
