Georgetown may have played IU well, but, this was not a good team and counzo got schooled the second half.

My take on this team:

1. No true PG to penetrate the zone. Seems we have been saying this for 30 years
2. Why did we not push the ball up the court vs. letting G town set up their zone defense? I truly am worried about CCM's game day coaching ability. I love the guy but don't see Xgrid adjustments made during games
3. Stokes is way overrated. Looks good against smaller and less talented teams. Hasn't shown much against the really good teams. Looks like a 4 year player to me.
4. No shooters. If you can't shoot, it's going to be difficult to beat the zone. Especially when you don't penetrate it.
5. Free Throw shooting lost the game. No excuse for a major college team to shoot 27% from the FT line. Shoot 45% and you win the game! Not rocket science
6 without Maymon, this team is an NIT second round loser once again. Not impressed at all so far this season

Good review. I would say its 50% not having Maymon and 50% not having any guard production outside of Golden.

OK, so Georgetown played #1 Indiana to OT on a neutral court yet because UT lost to them by 1 point on their homecourt then that makes them not any good? You're clueless.

Not it getting the ball in the paint wasn't for lack of trying.
Most of the turnovers came from forcing it in from bad angles.
Didn't matter any way, cause Stokes is playing like a freshman and putting it on the floor every time he touches it.

Cal, the only player on our team who can get the ball into the paint is McBee. The rest suck.

Seriously, not one comment on the coaching or last play of the game? Need to call it like it is if your gonna put it out.

I would have to agree.
All the hype about guard improvement and getting it inside appears to be HYPE. (with capital letters)
As bad or worse than last season against the zone.

Not sure these guys have the IQ to execute a play called for the last seconds of a game.
I doubt seriously if what you saw was what was called.

I don't feel like doing i told you so's in the gruden forum. And tbh, i don't do them often in here or there. Maybe i'm wrong more than right. Whatever.

But in the pregame prep report somebody had for this game, I pretty much nailed it, unfortunately. I'm @ the same age age CM. I played against CM. I know he coaches UT and I don't. But he and the staff and the ballhandlers screwed this game from the pregame plan.

So be it. All coaches make mistakes.

But fix it. That was a poor gameplan and poorly prepared team with quite a few days of film and prep.

Disappointed. I would expect more of myself, and I am nothing but a has been.

unless Maymon gets healthy and gets on the floor the VOLS wont win 5 sec games because their offense sucks they have absolutely no outside shooters and no one who can drive to the bucket and score.i actually thought this team was better than last year but free throws and fg 5% ARE GOD AWFUL FOR THE YEAR.

Did I not hear during the summer that Stokes had really worked hard on conditioning and getting his body in better basketball shape? To me he looks bigger and slower.
Stokes was the talk of the off season with his international experience. What's happened? Effort? Coaching?

Yall act like our zone offense was better last year. Teams will still play us man to man because coaches are stubborn. I still expect 20+ wins.

Agree, CCM's on court coaching has been less than impressive. I am a huge supporter of his but would like to see better adjustments made during games. Thought we should have pushed the ball up court vs allowing G town to set up their zone defense every time down court

You sir are spot on. I can't say if it was the guards or CCM's fault, but I have to think it's CCM's, because he appeared perfectly content to let the guys take desperation heaves. PATHETIC !

Martin actually gave a Fulmer-esque clap at the buzzer.
