1. When Trae Golden, Josh Richardson, and Skylar McBee go 5-29 from the field, you will lose. It's that simple.

2. A bad loss. I assume since most people overreact here that we will declare the season over. It's not. I don't know the numbers, but we'll see what happens. Win Wednesday and Saturday.

3. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is simply kryptonite to Tennessee. He was everywhere. He was just too good.

4. Bernard King Player of the Game: Jordan McRae. I remember watching Chris Lofton play. I don't know if he ever went 8-11 from three point range. That was just a sick, sick performance. Damn, he's good. He should get All-American consideration.

5. Martin should have scratched the four guard lineup today. We had to protect the paint with either Yemi or Kenny today. Georgia had too many easy paths to the bucket.

6. UT jogged their offense. They didn't run it. They didn't set good screens. They didn't cut with purpose. They didn't set their feet with shots. It just wasn't there.

7. It doesn't matter how good Jordan McRae play. Doesn't matter how beastly Jarnell is. When Trae Golden plays bad, UT loses. It's so simple. Anybody that doesn't think point guard play is important in college basketball just needs to look at UT.

8. UT's lack of depth showed. But not in terms of conditioning. Golden/McBee were terrible today. Everyone wanted them benched. Who are you going to put in? He gave Reese and Chevious minutes, and they did nothing. Armani Moore struggles mightily on the road. UT had to go with Golden/McBee and neither one could get it going.

9. Kenny Hall gave UT solid minutes. He was the only one off the bench. 10 points/3 boards is a good performance from him.

10. Just a bad loss. Kills momentum. No other way to describe it. I'm not well versed in the ways of the tournament. You'll have to go for other guys for that. Get the hell out of Athens, regroup Sunday, keep preaching positive messages and hope for the team, and go to the Plains and take it out on Auburn. You can't focus on the past. You just have to move on.

Go Vols!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hi:

As per usual:

As Trae Golden goes, so goes the team. It's just really that simple.

edit: When Kenny Hall is your second leading scorer, you lost the game.

No adjustments on defense today.. Yeah McRae was alone.. Not getting someone in front of those slashing guards is why they lost.. The man to man stubborness sucks sometimes..

Couldn't agree more about the importance of PG play. Until we get some consistency at the position, this is going to be the norm for this team.

On another note...wth has happened to Richardsons game on the offensive end of the floor??

I hope we don't play GA in the SECT. It would be embarrassing to lose to them three times in one season.

#1 is exactly what I was getting ready to post in an independent thread. Golden, Richardson, and McBee each had their respective worst games as Vols in the same game. We are merely lucky it was UGA we played. A better team would have spanked us by 20+.

KCP...he was the player I wanted most from his class. This is why. Bruce was in on him hard.

Stokes has got to get better switching defensively. He hedges out of the paint on picks far to often and teams are starting to notice. A&M exploited it to force the fourth OT last Saturday and UGA scored off of it today. He has to maintain his space in the paint and not get backdoored by his own man.

Kenny Hall played well today. I've said it numerous times. He's a better shooter from 10 feet than he is from 2 feet.

No one outside of Hall and McRae showed up today. McRae looked like an athletic Chris Lofton out there today. He kept UT in it.

The only way we now make the NCAA is to make it to the championship game, and that might not be enough. Bad losses are unacceptable at this point in the season when your a bubble team. If we played in January as we did in February, we would be a top 25 team abd solidly in the NCAA.

Wonder what got into golden today ? Only three points after being named SEC player of the week...something doesn't seem right.

I'm disappointed but not ready to throw in the towel because the Vols have played some great ball over the last few weeks until this afternoon. Any loss sucks but this one just sucks a little more. Go Vols.

I knew this game would be a problem--away games to decent teams always are--and now we're out of the tournament, for the time being and maybe for certain. I didn't see the game--but the first problem was that UT didn't play good defense. You haven't played good defense if you give up 78 points--how many did georgia score in the second half? A lot. And second is Golden. UT has improved markedly because his play had improved markedly. But not today. Golden is Silence.

Some things you just can't explain. Martin is 3-0 against Donovan but 1-3 against Fox. Fox isn't a bad coach, but his record should be better this year. This game concerned me because of Fox. He knows how to scout UT better than just about any coach in the SEC. He knows we go as Golden goes. Shut him and Stokes down and no one picks up the slack. McRae can shoot out of his mind and it doesn't matter. Fox also knows we struggle to defend the paint.

UGA outscored UT's bench 41-13. That's domination and embarrassing. UT had been winning as a team in the last 6 games until today. Bad, bad loss. I think some players got too confident after beating some of those teams and they lost focus today. You'd think UGA beating you at your place would piss you off.

The margin of error now is razor thin. I figured we could afford a loss to Mizzou but not UGA or Auburn. I never thought this was a NCAA team until the last couple of weeks. They can't continue to struggle out of the gate and leave themselves very little room for error in the future. You're going to have some off games. Today was obviously one of those.

Your last paragraph is spot on. A loss to Mizzou would have been much more excusable than one to UGA or Auburn.

Also, we have been bad out of the gate in several games lately. It makes it difficult to overcome and impose your will when you start like we have lately.

All battles are not the same...you have to adjust to your environment, your current strengths and weaknesses, and your opponent...hall should have had more mins today and mcbee should have been on bench...period...period...period

We also have been bad out of the gate this season and last. Martin better find a way to get this team playing better in December and January or we will have the same comments year after year.

I don't know what it is about UGA, but no matter how bad they suck they just seem to give us a lot of trouble. So frustrating.
