The Golf Thread

My SG5 has the option to move to where the flag is at. Kind of defeats the purpose, but is very accurate.

Uphill blind shots are tough, though.

Can move cursor on mine and get deadly accurate yardage, just don't know if cursor is dead on flag location.

The lasers are the way to go if you're anal about knowing the exact to the point yardages.

Upro does all but the pins, which is definitely a weakness.

I'm pretty sure I could download the beta version of software that would give me hazards, etc, for SG5, but I doubt my home course is remapped yet. I think it can also keep up with how far you hit particular clubs, if you don't mind inputting info during your round.

My biggest problem has been remembering to charge the thing.

Ah, don't know how to do that on mine, if it is possible. I get front/back/middle yardage. Should probably dig out the owners manual and try to advance to level 2, though.

I have an issue with getting stuck on the inside.

I either hit the block or the slap hook. Makes for a frustrating round when you don't have a damn clue where it's going when you stand over it.

When I go south, that's the issue. Can't eliminate a side and it makes some shots scary.

Sounds odd, but I try to keep my hands in front of my Sternum and turn my shoulders. For whatever reason, it help to keep the club in front of me insted of dropping behind me. Sometimes have to just keep my right shoulder high and turning. Odd, but helps me.

Some older ones can't do it. UPro is badass. Seriously. Far and away the best of the GPS models.

Funny you say that, but the only thing that has ever seemed to help me is along those lines.

I try to treat the swing like a 80 yard wedge shot. It's just keeping it consistent is what's killing me.

If you click on the view icon on the left and mess with it you can then move the cursor.

Anybody got thoughts on SkyCaddie vs. laserbeam?

I have the uPro from Callaway and love it, but if you aren't anal like I am and recalibrate at the beginning of a round, I wouldn't mess with it. The lasers with elevation adjustment are incredible and have become easier at picking up distant objects.

I have the uPro as well and it's awesome....I got it as a going away gift when I moved fron Arkansas to Illinois. I had a Bushnell Medalist Rangefinder before the Upro, now that just hang on the bag...

Heat index forecast in excess of 105 today, what in the hell was I thinking booking a 10:30 tee time ? todays round may very well be played at a lightening fast pace.

We're supposed to top out at 110-112 today and I just got in from playing at 8:45 and I don't think that was even early enough. When I got off the course, I checked my phone and the heat index was already at 106 and it was only 1:00.

. . . but man does the ball fly when it gets hot like this.

By the time it got hot, I had just made a birdie to get it back to Even for the day, so I didn't notice so much. If you had seen me play the last 4 though, you might have suspected that I was going to have a seizure at any moment.

When I play in palm springs in summer, I tee off st like 6 to beat the heat.

Hottest round for me was about 6 years ago at eastlake cc in atl over labor day weekend.

It was insane.

78. Doubled 17 and 18. Three doubles total. Best ball striking in months.

Couple very bad breaks.

Shot 91 yesterday in a sauna. Was better until I ran out of gas down the stretch, finishing bogey-triple-bogey.

Played Saturday and followed BPV's advice. Hit 3-wood all day. Didn't even pull driver out of the bag on the Par 5's.

Was a much more enjoyable round. Played 18 then went and hit about 50 drivers on the range until I couldn't stand the heat any longer.

I'm honestly not afraid of pulling out my driver anymore. Tons of time on the range and adjustments to the fundamentals of my swing helped

My goal is to have it somewhat under control in the next two weeks.

Don't want to go into my Club Championship with this issue still as bad as it is.

I just wonder what could cause it, maybe you're going a little too far past parallel on your backswing?

Just have an issue with getting stuck. If my timing is alright, no issue.

If it's off, I'm all over the map.
