The Golf Thread

I used to play Pinnacle Exceptions which I liked because they felt good coming off the clubface. Can't find those anymore so I have been a bit of a vagabond lately. Tried some Pro V1 (I hate all Titleist balls), Nike Ignite Longs (really like these), even played some Top Flite XL Longs just because they were cheap. I played all of these with no regard to my swing speed which was probably a big mistake. I have heard good things about the Srixon Soft Feels.

It really just stunned me. I am NOT used to that kind of distance. Irons were a little shaky yesterday but still better. Are you still in Florida V_I_I? More golf for you today?

with w a really slow swing speed, some of those balls won't compress and you really won't get any distance. so do what you were thinking about before and try some lady precepts.

on most courses, as long as you hit it straight, a lack of distance isn't the worst problem to have. you can still learn to score as long as your short game is good.

Nice. Still loving this driver. 300+ consistently. I'm waiting on it to go sour at some point

Persimmon Hills or Fulton. It's close and relatively cheap.

Shot 80 today. I love the feeling of being somewhat consistent compared to a year ago

I used to play them both alot when I lived in Martin. I always liked Fulton more than persimmon hills.

I shot a 40 the other day 9 holes..bogeyed last three holes...Driver erratic as usual. Short game saved me.

Need everyone's opinion on my game. Just broke 90 the other day for the first time, yet I've been increasingly frustrated with my distance. I have a TaylorMade r7 Draw driver (stiff flex), King Cobra 3 Wood and Nike Slingshot irons 3-PW steel shaft. I'm a 5'7 135 lb lefty and I just don't hit the ball for squat it seems. Here are some distances for reference:
Driver - 210-215 yds
3 Wood - 200
4I Hybrid - 175
6I - 145
8I - 125
PW - 95
I've been thinking of switching to graphite irons and regular flex driver. I usually produce a pretty high ball flight with the current clubs. Should I switch to graphite irons?

I'd ditch the draw driver 1st thing.

Why is that?

Are you playing the draw driver to combat a slice ? If so...

If you are serious about your game then ditch the draw driver for a standard driver and see how you hit then. I don't know how often you play or how serious you are about your game but if you want to improve then try playing without the offset of the gimmick driver and you may improve your swings from the tee. I'm assuming you hit the draw driver to counter balance a slice problem, the slice problem is a swing flaw that could be major or minor, could be something as simple as adjusting your grip even, it's impossible for me to tell without having watched you swing what may be the cause but every golfer I know that dumped the draw driver and tackled and overcame his slice problem improved their entire swing and game tremendously.

If you are not combatting a slice and are hitting the offset driver just because you want to forget you read any of this .... :)

Not sure it's anywhere near that complicated. It sounds to me like he's just a guy with low swing speed hitting a Driver with a draw bias in order to get the ball to run out and maximize distance . . . but the fact that we're giving swing advice to a guy we've never seen is pretty comical. :)

Pretty sure TaylorMade didn't make an offseat R7 driver. Just has a draw face on it.

I believe it's just a draw biased internal weighting scheme, with a heavy heel and almost no weight in the toe.

Buddy of mine is a pro and does the same to the equipment he gets out of the tour trailer. He hits a naturally straight ball to a slight fade, but wants the draw, so all of his long clubs have a bunch of lead tape on the extreme inside of the club.

Played a couple rounds the past few dats preparing for my Club Championship. Of course I can't decide on which driver to hit.

About time to just roll with one. Spent 30 minutes on the range last night practicing punch shots in preparation for the trees I'll be behind when I spray the ball all over the map.
