When I played there, the starter on the first tee said "There are yardages on the sprinkler heads to the front middle and back of the green. Please remember that Donald Ross designed this place, so if you use anything but the middle distance, you're an idiot."Anyone who has played there knows exactly the extreme difficulty of those greens, especially with approach shots
Yes, the first time I played there was in the North and South Amateur back in the mid 80s. Developed that mind set during my practice round. Of course, the course wasn't nearly as long then, but have played it a couple of times in the last 20 years on golf trips. All when greens were still bentgrassWhen I played there, the starter on the first tee said "There are yardages on the sprinkler heads to the front middle and back of the green. I hope they haven't scalped it to the point that as the heat sets in over the weekend it gets so hard and fast that it turns into a bloodbath. Nobody creates a goofy golf course like the USGA for a US Open.Yes, the first time I played there was in the North and South Amateur back in the mid 80s. I agree. Not allowing them to get too hard yet still maintaining speed is difficult. Speed isn't nearly the issue as allowing them to get too firmI hope they haven't scalped it to the point that as the heat sets in over the weekend it gets so hard and fast that it turns into a bloodbath. What’s the duration of their LIV contracts? Is he stuck there for life, or is it a fixed period where he can opt out. Also, Rahm’s body language sends a message to me that he made the wrong decision.I honestly try to not think this, but I feel like branson is a traitor. He could have been the face of golf, but he took the easy cash
I think the contract is for a fixed period, but the PGA's policy at least at this point isn't to take those guys back if they wanted to come back. What’s the duration of their LIV contracts? He's had one of the most unusual career arcs that I can remember from any player in any sport. His last major was the 2014 PGA Championship. If you told me that over the next decade he wouldn't win a single major, I would think it was because he dealt with numerous bad injuries, or worse. It's so wild how he's continued to be an elite player but hasn't closed in a major.Death. Taxes. Rory wetting the bed in a major
I used to think he was going to be the next Tiger.
One "goal" I never accomplished...............Playing in a 'Tour" event. (I don't count Mini-tour) Came close, but .................Golf buddy of mine playing in US Senior Open. No, he's not going to make the cut, but quite an accomplishment. Played a practice round on Wednesday with Els
Yes. He's the best player between Nashville and Chattanooga. That includes a couple of club pros like Melson too, and he made the cut at a Senior PGA a few years ago. Sort of gives uninformed locals a perspective as to how good you must be to compete on tourOne "goal" I never accomplished...............Playing in a 'Tour" event. Gotta be a special memory.
Props to him
