The Goodyear Cotton Bowl: #9 Missouri (10-2) vs #7 Ohio State (11-1) (8PM ET, ESPN)

OSU is missing some folks, including their best player.

Missouri is a high energy team with pretty good offense and good defense. However, their demeanor would suggest they think they’re better than they are.

Ohio State is a team deserving of a ranking in the range of 1st through 7th. Missouri belongs in the 8th through 15th range.

I expect Ohio State to pull away in the second half because they have more talent and Missouri’s impressive record does not include a win against a top 10 team.

No we don't. Drink is annoying, but he caught lightning in a bottle this year. It's always worth rooting for the Buckeyes to lose
But did he really catch lightning in a bottle? He had some experienced guys, but Its not like he had an abundance of really talented upperclassmen. Yet Mizzou mostly dominated us in the trenches. Thats part to good offensive mesh running scheme, but also had built a solid DLine.

I hope it was just a fortunate year for him, but I'm afraid they could be on to something. They are starting to get some decent recruits and are positioning themselves well for the future.

Tennessee’s defense looked uninspired in that game. Missouri has a good team and probably finished with one more win that they should have. They’ll build on it, but I don’t think they will have a duo like Cook and Schrader again anytime soon. Those two know how to make things happen and that can’t be taught to just anyone.

I’m afraid that we’re going to be even with Missouri for a couple years. Hopefully we have a good season next year and can start to climb into the upper echelon of college programs - enough talent to beat anyone and enough depth to be competitive even with the wear and tear of an SEC schedule.

Yes. I don't think you'll see a Mizzou season like this for awhile. They have a very mature team that hasn't been ravaged by transfers. It's just a bunch of pretty good players who have been playing together for 2+ years. We make fun of Mizzou, but this is a very good team.

Ohio State’s ability to guard against the pass is really making Mizzou one dimensional. Our secondary was so bad this year.

I'm actually of the exact opposite opinion when it comes to Cook and Schraeder. I think Cook is a below average QB who is a mediocre passer. I think Schraeder is decent but is more of a fighter than being purely talented. I think Drinks scheme tremendously helped both players thrive. Many times Schraeder doesn't have anyone touching him until 3 yards past the LOS. With better talent I think Mizzou's offense has plenty of room to be better.

Know things have changed in today's game of football, but WTH is going on with punt returners fielding the ball inside the 5 yard line? I was taught to stand on the 10 and if you have to step back to field it, you let it go. Maybe it's the new game? Dunno but it seems...well...stupid to me.

Trying to understand: are you saying that at 10-2 they should be ranked behind 3-loss teams like Arizona and (at-the-time-3-losses) Louisville?
