The point guard play isn't going to be average.

114 points against a team picked to win the socon over davidson with average pg play... I think we would still be ok with Michael Hubert at the point with this talent

NO. I think we'll have to see Tabb move to point and even then he's going to have to be extremely impressive for this team to even consider advancing past 3 games of the NCAA's.

Nor does anybody, but maybe it shows he could be better at PG than we thought.

Most people lump every returning player into the exact skill set as they had the previous year as if they did not practice, were not coached, didn't improve hoops IQ or matured from the year before. How is it that people do this when we have seen firsthand how Pearl can do more with less in previous years? Who in the world would expect a Pearl-coached Maze would be the exact same player as he was in Oklahoma two years ago?
I agree with you. I think Maze could be a better PG than ANY of us thought.

Find me one sane person who has picked Chattanooga to win the Southern Conference.

How much did the Pearl-coached Ramar Smith improve?

He didn't. I think he got worse. You seemed to be very impressed with him at the beginning of last year, stating that he might be the only one playing in the NBA all star game in the future. However, I think that locking players into the same skill set from previous years is folly. Pearl has seen most players blossom with his guidance.
On another note, Hat, who shined yesterday from your perspective?

I thought the entire team played well. Nice start to the season.

It was pretty encouraging seeing our boys come out of the gate strong. I hope Maze maintains. I still have my doubts about him, but last night was a good start.

Maze was in complete control last night.......from driving, to pulling up, to distributing. Quite amazing. That being said, I can't wait until the Old Spice Classic to see the same things against higher caliber teams. If he has a good 3-4 day stretch in Florida, then you can count me as being a believer. I liked his attitude on the postgame show as well. I think we MAY have a winner at point guard.

popcorn was mistaken. they were picked to win their division, which is a far cry from picking them to upend a top-20 team.

Good plan. I'll jump all over his bandwagon if he puts on a good show in there. Well, that and the two games preceding it.
