From Basilio:

The difference in the the game is very simple ... Lanier and Gainey 0-11 from 3 point range ... Meanwhile Noah and Perry ... TWO FRESHMAN were 5-7 from 3 point land ... Tennessee will never win that game ...

Our stars(seniors) disappear in big games and the opponents regular players step up.

Why can literally every other team in the country find lethal shooters except us? When's the last time we even recruited a lethal shooter? (Besides DK who I feel we just got lucky with, no one expected that)

As much as I like Rick Barnes and what he has done for Tennessee Basketball, the answer to this question goes back to him. It is his and his staff's responsibility to find and acquire the talent necessary to get the job done. In terms of finding lethal shooting talent, they have failed far more than they have succeeded. With this Vol squad, plain and simple, they have failed in getting the necessary shooters that can make shots against high level competition.

It's wild to think about considering how the game has changed and how shooting has become such a universal skill, we still cannot find shooters. It's like RB only wants project type players that he can develop himself and mold into defensive fundamentalists. Then you have guys like JJJ and Mashack who seemingly regress in their offensive abilities. I love RB but it's the same thing every year, offensively challenged teams that are going to lose in the tournament unless someone gets hot.

Not the only game we lost for same reason. A top 15 team minus 2 starters that also lost to Vandy,Arkansas, and Clemson. No way to spin it, two losses to them when we were favored in both. I may be wrong but I think we were favored in every loss we had this year except Auburn. Thats not a good trend.

Most “leathal shooter” don’t like to play defense as hard as CRB demands. Blessed to have him but sucks to watch sometimes. 🤷‍♂️

Then he needs to modify his approach somewhat to find a happy medium in-between those extremes that can allow Tennessee to advance to a higher level than it has been capable of just doing it with his hard headed old school approach. If he can't do that then he needs to retire and we'll get somebody who can.

Does a new batch of idiots hatch after every loss?

Lol! So play defense with 4 and hope the kid not playing defense is not a liability? I'll bet he would be.

Shooters are going to go cold some times. Defense travels more often than not.

Rick Barnes has won 862 games and lost 420 doing it his way. He's had five years out of 38 where he was 500 or lower.

Give me a break!

Unfortunately, they procreate and turn out more just like them....
I was a high school head basketball coach for 15 years. It is frustrating when your shots aren't falling; so I do understand that. But even when they're not falling, playing great defense and rebounding the ball keeps you in the game with a chance at the end. We're 20-5 with a great possibility at a 2 seed, my goodness. When we lose a game, I try to stay off this board for a couple days so that I'm not tempted to read their nonsense. I screwed that up today.

We lose one game to a top 15 team in a gym where we’ve only won 9 games out of 50 all-time, when we have two players who go cold from three, and you guys act like the program is crumbling. Get a grip.
It’s because it’s the same dance every time out with Barnes

When the shots are falling it looks way different. But a one PG system is a flaw. JM getting multiple minutes when he never shoots is a flaw.
You know there are some damn good teams in both NCAA and NBA that run a great offense without a true point guard. The recent Florida game doesn't necessarily support your opinion either

Ok. Your last comment wouldn't suggest it. That's all
And Barnes recruiting shooters vs streaky shooters is a different story also. He always recruits to culture first. Defense second. Then offense. And offense to him means his system. He has passed on some really good talent because of his culture theme.

When tournament time comes around a true PG is most definitely needed at some point to get by. But you have your view of what needs fixing and I have mine.

From your last comment, can you give some specific details of who we passed on due to culture? How did those players fare at their ultimate destination?
