The Hunting Thread

That'd be fun to watch.

And I haven't either. My cousin blasted one illegally during turkey season last year, I wish I would have neen with him just to have seen one walking around in person.

Speaking of turkeys - I have about 30-40 who regularly roam around my house (my property / adjacent land / woods...about a 1/4 mile radius I guess). I see them in my yard probably 1-2 a month, so its pretty common.

Lately, I've seen this jake which is not entirely white, but I'd say its 90% of its feathers are white (the other 10% of its feathers are a normal brownish, but muted, almost tan), even those toward the neck and its beard. I haven't been close enough to see the eyes, but is it possible that its an albino - despite some color remaining? If so, is this rare in turkeys?

Not an albino, but a genetic f up, to be sure. I was golfing in Virginia and saw a mostly white deer, and my grandfather shot an almost entirely white woodcock, they are just genetic freaks, but pretty neat to see.

Yeah I doubt its albino, you can get tame white turkey so there is a good chance it just got loose and and became wild with a group of them. My friends grandfather has a little buck that looks like someone took a paint brush and slung white paint on him, looks neat.

It's not a common occurrence but there are always 2 or 3 killed here in middle Tennessee every year like that.

Me neither. I've killed plenty of deer, turkey, coons, and dove but haven't had the oppurtunity to shoot anything out west. And I should re word my question to anything exotic, not found in Tennessee.

We just had a large cat kill a horse in my county. I've heard talk about black panthers and never believed it, but maybe there is some thing to it.

Well I wouldn't believe it, but my dad works for the sheriffs department. He was telling me about the call. Some one couldn't find their horse, so they thought someone had stole it. The cops go there and were looking around to see if they could find any sign of it. They found some large cat prints and followed it till they found a half eaten horse carcass. The TWRA is here now looking at it.

I think there is something to the cougar/panther thing, I heard about some minnonites calf being found in a tree in Ky not far from where I am

A shot a pheasant during duck season while hunting in middle Tennessee a few years ago. He was lost.

That's it.

Wonder if he came off a farm that raises them or something? I know there is a guy that lives by me that raises pheasant and quail and stuff and he does guided hunts.

Whats the most exotic animal anybody here has killed?

My son shot a bobcat with his bow this year and I'll post pics when the full body mount gets done. It walk under his deerstand. My son had a dip in his mouth and was spitting on the ground(nasty habit). The cat was smelling of his spit and he blasted it with a rage.

I'm surprised the rage left anything to mount.

Couple years ago, the wife and I were driving north I75 toward chattanooga at night and we saw what looked like a road killed black panther. It was large (over 100 lbs) black and looked like a cat with a tail. Granted we were doing 70mph, but we got a good two second look at it
