To whom it may concern: I came to this board hoping to be able to engage in rational discussions about the state of the team. Something above the "sports talk" level. It adds to my enjoyment of the games to try to puzzle out what's going through the coaches' heads, how certain strategies lead to certain results, etc. I enjoy argument, I like logic, I like wit (even at my expense), but I don't enjoy thoughtless name calling, or nonsensical declarations like "you've obviously never played organized basketball" instead of dealing with the points being made. (Incidentally, I played organized basketball all my life, and have decent credentials on that score, but it doesn't mean that my observations of a college basketball game are any more or less valid because of that.)
Most any reasonable criticism of the team, the coaching, or any individual player's performance is greeted with "you're an idiot...jump on the bandwagon." (Not considering that if we didn't care we wouldn't raise these points.)
Clearly I was wrong about the purpose of this board: the only valid posts are ones that praise the coaches or the team. (Although, "so and so" sucks, with no reason why seems to be a valid criticism.)
So: as my last post (the one following this one), I'm beginning the "I like Bruce" thread. In honor to the spirit of the board, I will not say why I like Bruce as a coach or what I think might make me like Bruce as a coach even more.
Good bye, and God bless. (And, the "good riddance" replies are understood so you really don't have to waste your time typing them.)
