Unfortunately it will not be a tough sell to Trumpers. They bought it the second it was stated.Notice how some of Trump's defenders are starting to shift from "there was no quid-pro-quo" to "it's not an impeachable offense". In light of Trump insisting for a month that there was no quid-pro-quo offer made to Zelensky, that will be a tough sell. Why deny that it happened, if there was nothing wrong with it?
I don't think they really care what Trump does, hence the wildly shifting defensive tactics being utilized.Notice how some of Trump's defenders are starting to shift from "there was no quid-pro-quo" to "it's not an impeachable offense". Both parties have a rock solid 44% that won't leave them no matter what. I think the middle is more like 12%, and he will start to lose most of it, if he now concedes that there was a quid-pro-quo offer, but insists that there is nothing wrong with that. He was insistent from the very beginning of this story, that there was no quid-pro-quo. Politically speaking, he will be taking a big chance to abandon that position.Unfortunately it will not be a tough sell to Trumpers. They bought it the second it was stated.
It will be a tough sell to the 10% in the middle, the group that really holds the cards; if only they just knew how to play them.
Trump can't win reelection with just his base, unless there is a strong 3rd party candidate in the race. He needs at least some moderate and independent support. That is what he is losing right now. Rasmussen Reports has his approval rating at 44% today. That represents 100% of his base, but nothing else.I don't think they really care what Trump does, hence the wildly shifting defensive tactics being utilized.

It's now a "Quid Pro, So?"
