The infamous UT Rocky Top/Lee Corso Commercial...

She also used to make us listen to the Chuckwagon Gang and some guy called Martin Mull (?) on the radio every night. I did not care for the Chuckwagon Gang.
You're probably thinking of the Reverend J. Basil Mull. He was an institution on Knoxville Sunday morning television. On the subject of quality southern gospel music, Jimmy Swaggart put out some tremendous albums in the '70s.

According to Heehaw.com (somebody shoot me for going there) it was Gordy TAPP.

Remember the Gospel Jubilee that came on on Sunday mornings? The Florida Boys, The Dixie Echoes, The Happy Goodmans and The Blackwood Brothers were fixtures on that show.

Man, this is making me nostalgic.

"Jubilee, Jubilee, you're invited to a happy jubilee......"

If you think the Arian Foster/Reggie Bush thread is Twilight Zone material, what would you call a thread where I'm discussing southern gospel music?

What can I say? It's the offseason.

"ain't at right Lady Mull"

If memory serves me correct, he passed away in the mid to late '90s. I was a huge fan of the man who coined the immortal phrase, "He just hit him with a wharp ye head off hold."

When Hat is recommending Jimmy Swaggart music from the 70's the Rocky Top/ Lee Corso thread has clearly jumped the shark.

Big Jim and Ron Wright were halarious! I wished rasslin was still like that! I did notice when Cornette was with the WWF he would sometimes pull out some of Wrights old routines. If somebody would of kept Hess's shows and Harry Thorton's shows out of Chattanooga on tape. They would of had a goldmine!

Ron Wright is better at inciting a crowd than anyone I've ever seen. I consider him a role model.

He had better heart attacks than Fred Sanford!

As I was watching a WCW Nitro live from Knoxville one night I saw the best sign. Which read........HULKAMANIA......Hell No! This is Ron Wright country!

A couple of years ago, Community Access TV in Knoxville ran some shows featuring Ron as a manager in the early to mid '90s. I laughed so hard that I feared blood was going to run out of my eyes. The man is a true Tennessee legend.

Dang hat, by turning this thing into a Hee Haw and Rasslin thread. We have played right into the evil hands of Corso and ESPN!
